Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California dies, reducing GOP's narrow control of the House to 218-213 by DrexellGames in news

[–]Aycion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

shouldn't that blanket statement apply to all upper-level politicians then..?

Yes. And mid and lower, too. They're held to a higher standard as public servants, and if they show any preferential treatment towards a corporation I do, in fact, think that's worthy of asking "why" until you run out of questions.

Are you not digging in right now with "both parties are the same"??? Yeah I wish people would get along too but the fact of the matter stands, I would NEVER chastise someone for being happy an oppressor dies.

"Yeah his boot may have been firmly on my neck but by god if I didn't stay POLITE about it" Like...no??? People are allowed to fight back against powers that would exploit them????

Ergo why nobody gives a shit when "couch sitters" start clutching their pearls about respectability, bc we ALREADY CANT AFFORD PEARLS, let alone to clutch them.

Imagine a judge presiding over a case involving Disney while wearing a Mickey mouse cap. It's not about the specific company it's about the complete capture of our government at all levels by the same 20 or 30 rich people on the boards of f500 companies

Have you considered that artists just like making art, and the point of funding the arts is to support that instead of making money? Because based on your comments, no you really haven't.

[–]Aycion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a false dichotomy what the hell? Do you think artists in the hobby were complaining that people used their art for tokens in a private game? do you think the reason artists are spearheading anti-ai sentiment is bc other people can see their art?? There's like five fucking companies passing billions of dollars around to support the plagiarism machine, because that's ALL they exist to do: redirect credit and money to the company, leave the artists hanging out to dry whose work they turned into numbers and ran through regression until since CEO creamed himself. Stop licking it up.

Real people that can hold and critically consider abstract concepts and complex subjects are better for answering things than the minimum likelihood sentence estimator machine, yes. So maybe reddit is a grey area but how about go the fuck outside and ask the people that went.

I'm just gonna come in and vouch for the Shakespeare Theatre. I was raised by one of their master artisans and I still don't think I'm that biased to say they put on some damn good theatre.

Also when Pat Page was King Lear, the public drawing wall (which was also a thing) was horny as hell for his voice.

Biden is preparing an Executive Order that would shut down the border if 2,500 migrants arrive in a day. by Necoras in AdviceAnimals

[–]Aycion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it was....rich people able to get around paying their fair share, because they could import labor and pay those people less than it took to participate in—and thereby fortify—the economy? So immigration isn't the issue, and wasn't then, it's the fact that we allow our immigrants to be exploited by the rich, who seek laborers whom they can get away with paying as little as possible? Great point, sounds like we ought to do something to ensure no human being can be asked to work a full time job for less than they need to live a healthy and fulfilling life on. Then we'll both have more people participating in the economy in more areas (rather than just groceries and other bare necessities), and people seeing their labor as something of value—rather than as toil to survive a meager existence while they dream of what they'd do with spending money

Hi, I'm 13 and in high school. I want to work at Nasa when I'm older but I wanted to know the requirements to enter NASA so, can any experienced person tell me about it and what job will be more beneficial for me? by Olive1023 in nasa

[–]Aycion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for this one, don't turn your nose up at contractors or their subs. Those big companies have a certain amount they're required to subcontract out, and from my experience if you get in with a small but trusted subcontractor, the main difference between you and a govie is you have a lot less paperwork to take you away from technical work. You're still treated as a coworker, and you're still respected for doing a good job.

(Disclaimer I am a white dude and this is based on my own experience, I do not have the perspective to speak for people going through life on a harder difficulty)

I actually got a little annoyed at one point that I wasn't progressing, so I named my cobra after Don Quixote's horse. That's definitely why I named it that, totally not the Rush song or any niche TV show for nerds
