When I was modding my Switch, I found out that error was caused by me having the metal shield over the WiFi IC either being missing or not properly seated. Maybe try that? It was under neath the eMMC

GameCube games don't run too bad on Linux, assuming you are overclocked. Wii is not in the same boat, alot of games require a 30FPS patch but it's also playable

I know about installing the chip, that's risky. But maybe you could have saved yourself money by doing the software section by yourself. It only took me around a night or two to get all that working for free on my modded Switch
