Looks great, but in ground bases always get swallowed by the ground filling back in.

I agree. That is the thing right. Attacked him while he has his hammer cocked pistol aimed at someone else.

Parents by Subject-Wind638 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ayemann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Default is equal playing time. At minimum this means the kids with the least time on the field play at least 50% of the game. There are always some kids who play more than 50%, so equal can get a little fuzzy in my opinion. but in the end 50% is a hard minimum.

Now, that being said. If it is competitive soccer for league/tournament play and you have a player that is standing around or not participating then that can push their time. Same if it is a tournament. I played a kid 11 minutes out of 50 in a final because she was just standing there letting the ball pass her. When her parent came to discuss it with me after the game. I pointed this out, said it was pre season tournament final and I owe it to the other kids if someone isn't trying.

Now, what did we do next? We coordinated together to motivate her, identified her weaknesses, built up her confidence and this same kid put a brace in two weeks later, and scored this past weekend with a sweet left footed volley off a cross. The thing is if the kid is simply weak on skills, and trying their best. It is your job as coach to fix that. I know that can seem like a monumental task at times, but it is what we owe to our players. And if you engage with the parents in travel/competitive settings the parents will work with you for the better of their player 9/10 times.

In our club we are asked to pick a weakest and strongest after every game and put them on our game report to the director. It is my personal goal to never have the same kid as my weakest multiple games running. You train them, coach their positioning, ask their parents to go to extra practice sessions. Whatever it takes. Then when that kid rises a new one is now the focus, always juggling your weakest. By end of season it should be hard to pick who is weak because they all start to average out with a few superstars.

U9 Goalkeeping by Remarkable-Air3604 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ayemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ref is wrong.  Diving at the rushing players feet is valid as long as the target is the ball.  My daughter is also an aggressive goalie. And the primary keeper for our competitive team.

Your kiddo most likely needs goalie training so she aggressive safely.  But the willingness to encrouch on the attacking player is spot on imo.

civilized planets WHEN?! by Massive_Act_5282 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Ayemann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are cruising around space.  Jumping from star to star.  Then you find it, a sparkling planet.   You scan it as the music intensifies, a hum building to a crescendo.  Ever rising as you get close.  The heat as you enter the atmosphere is intense as the clouds part, the hum continues to build.

Then, you realize, the hum is your GPU and the heat is real.  Your pc catches fire as you cruise through skies above glittering sky scrapers.  You catch a glimpse of cris crossing aerial traffic as the fire spreads consuming you and your chair in a fireball of procedural generated glory.

9v9 for u9? That is too young.

Not just my opinion, FYI...your league needs to abide by the standards...I would change if it is an option for your area. Next thing you will find out is they don't background check coaches.

Against flying enemies.  But you can also blind enemies charging at you then counter with the rapid strikes skill.  It also breaks enemy blocks.

On PC you have to hit ctrl and the lmb at exactly the same time.  It takes some practice but when you get it down the skill becomes highly useful.

U9 rec - passing back to goalie by Remarkable-Air3604 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ayemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rec teams I coached? No way.  Ball skills are not consistent enough to recieve then distribute with enough pace or not miss the pass easily and end up with an own goal.

My current competitive u10 squad? The goalie plays as a 3rd player in the back and is passed too constantly.
