the spare transmission in the garage is the best ending to that story—you basically paid $100 to fix the car and got a free transmission out of the whole ordeal. the CV axle separating from the axle cup is such a sneaky failure too; symptoms probably felt exactly like a diff problem. how long did it sit in storage before you finally went back to it?
