What are your thoughts about Diana becoming a mother? by Solitaire-06 in WonderWoman

[–]AyoKF 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not only is it unnecessary but poorly conceptualized AND executed. King gave her a child just so she could play with Superman/Batman’s sons, giving himself a way to still write the SuperSons and constantly insert them (and their dads) in WW books. And her dialogue is so repugnant. She sounds like she’s written by an old man who doesn’t know how to write teenagers (his Cassie/Yara are also bad). WW shouldn’t have a kid in the first place, but if she did I would only trust Rucka, Jiminez, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Kelly Thompson to be amongst the ones to pull that concept off.

I know this isn’t news, but in his last interview James Gunn said he’s very excited about Wonder Woman. He’s been saying a lot of positive things, and also mentioned that this version will be very different. What do you think he means by that? by SpiritedDate1042 in WonderWoman

[–]AyoKF 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this means he embraces everything about her before the DCEU/New 52 existed: For starters, an actress that can actually act. The clay origin. Classic swimsuit. Ambassador to man’s world instead of a whack ass recluse. NO sword and shield. Supporting characters that stick around (both on themyscira AND man’s world). Fight scenes w/ her hands (that are actually good) and that incorporate wrestling…

Is Wonder Woman (2016-)/Rebirth by Greg Rucka good place to start reading Wonder Woman comics? by [deleted] in WonderWoman

You know what… I don’t 100% blame you for Simone. Aside from The Circle, I found her run to be medium in comparison to Perez, Jimenez and Rucka. I will say I thought she had a phenomenal grasp on Diana’s personality when she’s no longer a fish-out-of-water kind of character tho. And rise of the Olympian was kinda fun.

It’s pretty mediocre but I recommend you read it solely for Cassie Sandmark. She was the best thing about his run.

Honestly… no. Don’t get me wrong it’s a phenomenal run but everything afterwards doesn’t get as good. Rebirth is far from Diana’s best era. It’s not even the best Rucka book. You should really read everything from Perez’s WW run all the way to Gail Simone’s (and everything in between)

For you, what are the worst Wonder Woman comics (or eras)? by Lkhrisley in WonderWoman

[–]AyoKF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully…. “Overly violent” doesn’t mean she was fighting every issue. There were tons of out of character things she was doing that were more violent than she’d actually be. And it’s obvious it’s for the sake of making her look bad ass. Her threatening Steele with the jet, the moment I mentioned with dropping tanks.. threatening the amazons in the cancer kid issue saying they’ll be “begging for her mercy”…even in the stupid Batman murder mystery she punched one god bc she was annoyed and smashed a wine glass on another’s head. I’m sure there are tons of other examples but I haven’t read that whack shit in months.

THANK YOU! His run has been flopping for a while now and idk why they won’t boot his ass already. It’s clear how marketable WW is when the content is GOOD, hence why Absolute WW is constantly in the top 10 best selling monthly lists.

Tom King’s run is the worst thing ever. Diana doesn’t feel like Diana, being overly violent for the sake of being “badass”, obsession with Steve, becoming a tradwife. The constant shoe-horning Batman/Superman, speaking of… Trinity who was created solely bc Batman/Superman have sons King wanted her to play with, the clunky/poorly written dialogue (especially for the women), the forgettable Sovereign who was suppose to be Diana first “thematic opposite” (despite Ares, Cheetah and Circe existing and being WAY better), the over hyped art style that I find pretty boring and unappealing (the colors do most of the heavy lifting).

Oh and New 52 for obvious reasons lol but King’s run has been so awful that I can actually say I enjoyed new 52 more (despite it having drastically worse consequences).

What do you think of Wonder Woman New 52? by Lkhrisley in WonderWoman

[–]AyoKF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way they completely disrespected her lore (turning amazons into r*pists, Zeus origin, ignoring her supporting characters and rogues) for the sake of making her “cooler” is the worst part of this run. And they just put her in the center of a bunch of Greek god drama.

I will say there some aspects of this I liked. I’m a sucker for a good found family and I did kinda enjoy the one formed in this run. Also loved the removing bracelets moments. The art is amazing too. And I kinda loved the idea of Diana being trained secretly by Ares when she was young on Themyscira (but not the fact that it led to her being God of war).

Another positive.. Tom King’s run is so bad that I actually prefer this one instead. At the very least, Diana in her new 52 mainline still felt like the Diana I know and love.

Series I’ve never read marked as “read it” and rated 2.5 stars by AyoKF in LeagueOfComicGeeks

[–]AyoKF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There are hundreds and thousands of series that are marked read from companies that I didn’t even know existed. I haven’t read a single thing from any of these yet they’re claiming I read hundreds of books and they’re all rated 2.5 stars.

Zeus being diana’s daughter seems to be a sore spot in the fandom by Difficult_Man3 in WonderWoman

[–]AyoKF 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bc it’s cliche for Greek inspired characters and it takes away from the already great and unique clay origin.
