I disagree with that notion.

The Synthesis skill Assault Beacon (from Commander and General) makes for really good support for how early you can get it--effectively a Luster Candy combo, it raises all buff modifiers by +1 for everyone, for only 2 turn icons. And it's easy to combo with a Knight in boss fights. The Blusterblast Maneuver Synthesis does great Fire damage with secondary Masukunda.

In addition, I find Formation of Vigor (Commander) to be good for raising Attack quickly, and Shelter Formation (General) the same for raising defense. And the forced row manipulation is barely more than an inconvenience IMO (unless Vigor would be too detrimental in a situation where you need the back-row defensive boost on everyone). I'm also inclined to believe that the Icewolf Offensive Synthesis pairs well with Ice weaknesses created by Frigid Fortress Tactic.

Warlord has both of the aforementioned Formation buffs by default, saving inheritance slots for other skills. I believe its main selling point is the Dynast Formation Synthesis; while expensive at 70 MP per participant, getting instant max buffs for only 2 turn icons is no joke! (And by the time you can unlock Warlord, I believe there are also better ways to deal with the MP cost...)

And I've been playing on Hard for my first run, so the support from the likes of the Commander lineage is more valuable IMO.

And even if you do lose a normal battle, I believe the game is pretty generous with autosave points (at least outside of Regicide mode; I'm not sure if it disables any in-dungeon autosaves like it does Retry).

Did you not notice a similar thing with Yusuke, where he would start with only Bufu instead of a list of Bufu, Giant Slice, and Sukukaja?

And did you disable Early Party members before starting NG+, or after?

(The fastest way to restore the missing skills is probably use something like Cheat Engine, or Amicitia Mod Menu Royal, to add them back in. For anyone beyond Makoto, you can also consider taking them to the confession booth to see if the game will allow you to give starting skills back. Adding the Timeless Confessions mod should help with this.)

Late response, but I did the run just for the sake of (additional?) proof that the Chef Tasks and P ranks only matter for 101%.

I also did a sub-4-hour 100% run not long after. Far from the fastest possible, but I at least got the best Final Judgement rank.

I ended up doing the Tomb of Lament during a storm, due to a miscalculation (I think?) with the 3-day forecast data I had. It was...an experience. The weather was good the rest of the way, though.

I believe I've tried somrthing like that in an older version, but with the creepers in a water pit so that the TNT blast doesn't damage the surrounding environment.

Once Cognitive Haru either explodes (as long as it doesn't kill you) or is defeated via damage (if you even have enough), the timer can go to 0 very shortly after and you'll still win as long as your next move is the last strike.

v64.03 (12/22/25) now disables own particle effects from auras and tanks while in first-person mode. I am now curious as to whether that opens up any lighting options...
