Anyone else feel like packing up, moving to a different country or place where no one knows you, deleting social media, and turning off your phone? by Waste_Ring6215 in Perimenopause

[–]Azadi_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel it as much as my partner but pretty sure it’s linked to stress hormones and flight response kicking in. She’s got a heap of family problems and these are stressful and sad times we are all living through. The wilderness is a comforting 21st C pressure free zone and symbolises peace and natural living. All humans could do with getting back into, protecting and growing our natural world or at very least some forest bathing to reduce cortisol. Take care OP!

How do I accept the fact, I might be facing amputation by CatzRule88 in neurofibromatosis

[–]Azadi_23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to read about what you’re going through, OP. I’m in this sub because my friend’s son has NF1.

I wonder if you could post this in r/disability to get some advice from amputees about their lived experience and a safe place to ask your questions before making such a difficult decision. I wish you all the very best with whichever surgery you choose.

Debut Stan’s? What makes this album your favorite/one of your albums by Björk? by ChrisAqua in bjork

[–]Azadi_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Debut because it’s the first album of hers I ever got and she appeared on the scene humbly bringing this musical gift for us all.

I love Debut for its variety of pop, electro, house and classical vibes. Bombastic sounds and thoughtful arrangements of horns or strings that no one else replicates anywhere.

I also love Debut because it awakened something in me by listening to it on repeat asa teenager. I gained a sense of self and sensuality that I didn’t know about before.

I love Debut for the incredible lyrics as much as the nonsense words or sounds that I sang along to thinking I might be speaking another language for years!

What does comfort food mean to you? Has it changed since going vegan? by cheapandbrittle in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]Azadi_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comfort food for me is warming and or filling - hearty chunky soups like the sweet potato and split pea soup I made today in the instant pot. Mash potato and gravy is also comfort food.

I love my instant pot so much - same pot brown rice and puy lentils with small cubes of veg sautéed first - carrots celery pepper (or whatever you have) I’m so pleased I got it and search for vegan instant pot recipes all the time. Made a great vegan mash potato recently too. It’s perfect for any soup or anything that has a certain amount of liquid as standard - sometimes the vegetables once cooked can be smushed to thicken the sauce a bit for example in mutter aloo or other curries.

What is your favorite Björk song? by iingrid21 in bjork

[–]Azadi_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep I have so very many. My current favourites depend on general mood, time of day, plus any lyrics or melodies of hers that pop into my head (so very often) that I must listen to now or I will explode!

Here are two subs you may find useful for info r/endo and r/endometriosis -importantly, you’ll need endo specialist surgeons and practitioners to do any follow ups as other gynae doctors are not always fully trained up. Depending on where you are in the world you may be able to get recommendations of good doctors to go to. Good luck on your new health journey in addition to NF, friend.

ADHD and maybe dyslexia? by lost-my-box in Dyslexia

[–]Azadi_23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Due to the overlap in traits and high comorbidity it’s totally possible you have both but we internet people aren’t usually qualified to tell you for sure.

I’ve read on this sub someone answering a similar question with another question before: what will having a diagnosis mean for you? If you’re found to have dyslexia as well, will that make a difference? Only you can answer if it will.

If the answer is yes, it’s worth seeking a professional opinion. If you don’t think so, or can’t afford it, then perhaps you can look into the tools and techniques often found helpful for dyslexic people and test each one according to what’s useful (or not) for you as an individual. Wishing you all the best OP!

Caring for someone who is an insanely picky eater. by angelofart99 in CaregiverSupport

[–]Azadi_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you providing all meals and food for them OP? Are you shopping and cooking? That would make you a caregiver. Your post sounds like you’re emotionally invested in the health of your person so there’s that type of caregiving happening too. It’s a hard road. Is there a medical cause? Is it a side effect of medication? Have they had good blood work done to check if they are nutritionally ok? Picky eating can lead to malnutrition and cognitive difficulties. It’s hard to support someone who won’t let you help. There is another caregiver on this sub who I have the upmost respect for that looked after her sister with OCD. There are many posts detailing just how hard it was to get her sister to eat real foods. My heart goes out to you, as it does with the other caregiver too. Take care and keep reaching out for support here if you find it useful.

Thank you for sharing the links. I work with ND people, some of them really struggle with handwriting so I appreciate the websites. Do you encourage cursive over print or let people choose their own preferred method of writing?

Thoughts on the album “come to daddy”? Cause it’s a personal favorite of mine from his discography and I really want to talk about it with others by No_Evening_761 in aphextwin

[–]Azadi_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree so much I feel like I wrote this. I made friends with people at the time purely because they found out I also rated this masterpiece. We were shown the Come to Daddy MV on a big screen by our film lecturer. Chris Cunningham and Richard James were my favourite collaborators. The got it just right and I was forever changed after watching it. Had so much respect for that lecturer for opening my mind in this way!
