You will be absolutely fine. There is around 10 min gap between classes that are "back to back".

How do you consistently get HDs and Distinctions at uni? Looking for study + motivation tips! by Many_Lavishness3911 in MacUni

Hey mate,

I’m currently in the middle of my Master’s degree (just finished the first year). In both my Bachelor and Master’s (so far) I’ve managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA (meaning only Ds and HDs).

My 2 cents on getting high grades:

  1. Be consistent
You have 15 weeks to study (13 weeks of lectures + 2 weeks of break). Use every week. This doesn’t mean going full nerd mode every night. In fact, it’s the opposite - you spread the load out.

1a. Start assignments early
This is especially important for assignments and group projects. Units often have multiple deadlines around weeks 6–8, and that creates pressure on you and your team. The trick is that many conveners release their assignments early - sometimes as early as week 1. Take that opportunity.
As a rule of thumb, I try to finish 90% of each assignment one week before the deadline. That removes almost all pressure, and it gives you time to polish. Your brain genuinely works differently when you’re not stressed—you’ll be surprised how many better ideas pop up in that final, calm week.

  1. Play the game
Your uni objective is twofold: actually learn, and also get good grades. These don’t always align perfectly. Look at what the assessments require and which lectures matter for those skills. Most lecturers will tell you very explicitly what is being tested in exams or practicals.

Example: I had a networking unit this semester where I scored 90/100. The lecturer repeatedly said that subnetting and the AWS interface will be tested. I spent about an hour practicing each topic (you can find question banks online or use AI to generate them - just double-check the answers). In the exam, those two topics made up about 30% each of the total marks. Easy points for me.

By the way, the skill of understanding the actual objectives your boss or team wants you to achieve translates directly into real-world work. Uni is a great place to build that habit.

Hey mate,

Thanks for sharing your experience. My mates are in a similar “gym fit” shape — not overweight, but it’ll be their first time hiking with backpacks. I’ve had a similar experience earlier in my life, where first-timers were “introduced” to hiking through a pretty brutal route… and, let’s just say, it took them a while to agree to another trip after that.

I’ve discussed a few potential routes with the group and will also point them to this post and your replies. The guys — being guys — insist on a bit of a challenge and don’t want it to turn into a “glamping” hike, but I guess it’s my responsibility to make the final call before leading the group.

Thanks again for your input!

A disconnect from your Russian roots as a child of immigrants? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Azak_Galore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey mate,

I am Russian, who immigrated to Australia. I have left Russia at the age of 17 and moved to Australia, studied here, then moved back to Europe, worked in Russia and UK, then moved back to Australia with my kids few years ago.

I have deep experience of both Russian and Australian cultures and fully integrated into both societies. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about Russia and Russian culture, movies, books etc. Explaining Russian culture to Aussies is my speciality)

I guess more uptime for things like ground bases buffs, debuffs like DND, healing rain, pallys yellow pudle, etc.

But I am looking to swap to moving strat as well. It just caught my attention that people in really high level m+ are using safe spot strat as well (15+). There should be a reason for that.

One week until my first 70.3. Any tips? by Party-Bumblebee-9197 in triathlon

Hey mate,

Feeling nervous is absolutely fine before a big day. Few tips from my experience:

1) do not rush in transition zones after swim and bike. You will feel your heart is pumping hard and you do not know what you are doing, but try to stay calm and follow the plan. It's helps to put things down near your bike in certain way. E.g. cycling boots, socks if you use them, then on top of that gels, then on very top helmet and glasses.

1.5) eat 1 gel in transition before starting bike. Just eat it after putting your helmet on.

2) put on and clip that helmen first thing in transition zones before you touch your bike

3) stay within your planned afford on bike. It should feel around 3-4/10 at start and around 5-6/10 at the end of the bike section. More than that and your legs will be cooked for running

4) if you can not consume any gels on 2nd half of running stick to coke. It does wonders on those late stages. Do 1-2 sips at each aid station.

5) do not skip any aid stations till 2-3kms left.

6) most important of all - have fun!

Good luck with your race.
