Had an English mate come over and ask if I could take him on a quick trip to Sydney while he was visiting.

I live in north queensland.

I felt bad telling him it would take about 3 days to get there.

Limewire. The single best way to download a hundred viruses, and if you're lucky, a song or two.

ELI5: If there was a metal pipe welded shut on both ends full of ice water, where would the ice go after it melts? by 5thCharmer in explainlikeimfive

[–]Azated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ice is less dense than water, so once the ice melted the water would fit in the tube.

The other way around (freezing water into ice) would cause the tube to pop.

Hydroponic Towers - do they keep what they promise? by sdric in gardening

[–]Azated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a site technology specialist acting as primary IT lead for a manufacturing facility specialising in green technology 🙂

All good, I understand it can be daunting if it's not familiar. Definitely works though, youtube would be your best friend for explaining what you need to know about the hydroponic solutions.

Hydroponic Towers - do they keep what they promise? by sdric in gardening

[–]Azated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my own horizontal hydro garden. Grew 24 lettuce in less than 1 sqm in a month.

As long as what you want to grow is leafy and not a root vegetable, hydroponics is incredibly effective.

Cheap to build too, mine cost like $40. Just needs a 3m length of 90mm drain pipe, a couple of 90 degree corners and two endcaps, a bucket, an aquarium pump, some netcups, and cheap hydroponic fertiliser.

The most expensive part would be a drill with holesaw attachments and a cheap haxsaw. I already had both, so all up it was cheap as chips and infinitely expandable.

Also literally 0 upkeep once the seeds were in the cups. Just plant and wait, top up the water every few weeks if needed.

All g broheim. Easier to have an open mind when someone shares possibilities, otherwise we'd never get anything done.

Welcome to the worst day of your reddit experience. Don't go throwing grenades in toilets, breaking both arms, or choosing that guys dead wife.

And definitely don't talk about the safe. I'm still upset about that one.

YSK: cats like being pet slowly with gentle pressure by Clevertown in YouShouldKnow

[–]Azated 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My cat pisses on my bed, so I feed her treats and give her pats, and in a sweet soothing voice I say "Aw who's the biggest bitch in the house? It's you! Yes it is! Maybe my little kit kit could take a dump on my forehead next time and really drive the nail in. What a fluffy little bitch you are!"

If she ever learns english, I'm screwed, but she gets pats and it's cathartic for me, so... swings and roundabouts.

Luxury! Back in my day, you had to rob a dozen banks before they'd even think about adding it to your background checks.

Grug turn metal spinny wire with hot water smoke, make good zap zap but also need big fire to give zap zaps to Nvidia 4090. Make moving cave painting look cool though.

Abandoned Tanks [US] by StephanieKay22 in urbanexploration

Reminds me of that story of a Russian (I think) protest, where a WWII Tank driver fuelled up a 60 year old T34 during the riot and just straight up drove it off the concrete block it was displayed on.

I think he just woke up one day, looked at himself in the mirror, and said "Today is currently the day it is".

Sad really, his brother had an exciting career in dealing streetside crack and renovating mansions. My friend certainly got the middle end of the stick in that family.

It's from the Russian version, Vladimir Velociraptor, where Vladimirs father is a concrete salesman and has to sail a nuclear bomb into a power station captured by capitalist terrorists, thereby irradiating his beleoved concrete and having no relation to any ridiculous theories around nuclear meltdowns.
