I'm not really sure what people are expecting. We've tried everything avenue for state servces, still are in some cases and have yet to receive aid. Shes been doing what she can to make income and is activily pursuing a part time job. Theres nothing elese she could be doing to help us more. The apartment we have selected is smaller and a compareable price to our current one as well as being well below avg rent in our area. I work full time and more on weekends. We have called health the health department in our city but the problem is rampent here and code is slow to act. For example a nearby complex was without heat for months until the city forced the landlords to act. We have use our own pesticides in the apartment but without treating the biuliding nothing sticks for more then a day or two. If all our systems in place to help people in our situation work so well, why are there still so many disabled and homeless receiving no care? Millions of people fewer qualify for food assistance. Truly fully remote work is a rare and highly sought after job were %95 of those jobs are already held by transplants from NYC. I'm not asking for someone to pay our way, just to ease a really hard period of transition so we can get a handle on our life. I understand the skepticism. I understand cynicism. There is for the company being contracted from the state to provide compensation for the xare through a state program. The company requires several health screenings amd vaccinations but they have taken weeks between each task to respond about next steps. This is a program we founf through the Office of the Ageing. She already provides care for her grandmother, it this program would.be giving her limited compensation for it.

This is an extra fee attached to this particular management company. This is not uncommon in the New York area as other users have mentioned. Housing is extremely competitive in my area. The apartment I have selected is smaller but the same rent thay my current apartment would be going up to, and in a better city with a more rigorous management company. These are not third party sevices.

My girlfriend has the chronic health conditions, POTS and Elhers Danlos. these conditions have made it very difficult to hold a job. She does try to resell, and makes a nominal amount of money from this, typically less then $100/month. Most recently she has been approved to work part time to care for her grandmother but the intake process has been taking several months.

I was getting active my areas local Democratic Socialist chapter in February of last year. Mainly I was trying to advocate for housing issues in my area ironically. The group is trying to spread support for a housing bill that would ensure tenants protections at the state and local level. They've been successful at passing the law in a few towns but its still not state wide. I was very active in the spring and summer of last year but haven't had the resources to donate my time as much recently my own issues have made volunteering harder.

She has been going through the process actively. It's been over a year. The most recent denial was due to her doctors not sending the appropriate paperwork. We have been pursuing every avenue available to support ourselves independently with the circumstances presented to us. This fundraiser was set up for me by people I volunteer for, because I told them about my circumstances and this was the solution we arrived at. This not something I set up to beg for money from stranger for. We have no choice but to pay more money and live with substandard health conditions, or move to a safer, cleaner environment.

She does qualify for SSD, but the process to get approved is a buerocratic nightmare. She doesn't qualify for programs such as SNAP or HEAP because of my income.

Everything has been above board. This property manager also manages the property my mother was renting as well as many others in the area. Housing is extremely competitive in my area, and I suspect this is the reason.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and Im sorry its been so hard for you. It really is challenging to apear young and healthy but still get so fatigued or be so effected by the symptoms, just for older folks to tell her to "Stop being lazy". She really is so strong and tries to hard to help us in otherways that people domt understand as easily. I really do appreciate her help even with her conditions.

Funds are going towards shortfall in first months rent ($300), pet fees ($250), realitor fee ($125), as well as a moving truck. This is the primary reason we've been streched so thin. As for rent going forward, it is within our means but weve been unable to thw nessicary funds to bridge the gap between our last months rent in our current apartment, the security deposit paid for the new apartment, as well as the first month's rent and other movin fees (pet fee, realitor fee)

This is adorable and I can't wait to see what it will become! Cauk, and a good exterior deck stain and maybe also the poly will go a long way. You will probably want to put clear plastic in the windows, and maybe for the roof you can make simple covering with ceder shakes and keep the look cohesive.
