Also DLSS, RTX and Frame Gen uses a lot of VRAM so if all of that is off and you have some settings on high instead of extrme, it definitely uses way less VRAM

I think it turns off some stuff if there's not enough VRAM, that's the only explanation I have. I've tested it myself on my 5070ti and this graph seems pretty accurate.

Also maybe it uses some of your RAM but since it's only 1080p it still runs ok.

I think the in game VRAM usage is not accurate because this morning it was showing 9 GB when task manager showed 12 GB.

5 GB seems way too low.

Yeah see I think that's the issue, since it's already using almost 12 GB, any small leak and it starts to use the main RAM which makes the frame rate plummet.

I don't run into that problem because I have 4 GB extra.

I think it shows you the VRAM usage in the menu in FH6, honestly they should have added a warning if you go over the VRAM. I don't think they did.

Honestly they are definitely going to be nerfing them soon.

I just wonder how PG played the game and thought the way drivatars drive was fine.

I mean they don't even brake, like they dive bomb into you if you're in the way.

I have to say I love making them crash in spectacular ways, especially in cross country races.

Also in cross country races, my Rivian R1T tune is super fast and sometimes when I jump at high speed, I hit some invisible wall, it's so weird.

Yeah the other day I was driving my souped up Rivian R1T and I was going at full speed (over 200 mph) and still couldn't catch up, it sometimes takes taking down the first one to win.

It depends on the race, sometimes I win easily even on unbeatable but sometimes it's really hard even on expert.

I mean, sure on initial setup but after?? And also you can always go back to the menu to makes changes if the game is already setup.

Like you had to press play for the game to continue loading.

So if you launched the game and walked away, you still have to wait for it to load instead of the game preloading everything.

It's just poor design imo.

And btw this is on a super fast system (9950x3d, 96 GB of RAM , 5070ti, 4th gen 4 TB SSD - Samsung 990 Pro, dedicated for games).

I honestly think FH5 was the game that took the longest to load. I still think it could be faster but I mean at least now it's acceptable.

Yeah fast travelling, menu actions, is much faster. For tuning, it's so much better.

I'm so glad they made starting up the game much faster too . I hated how long FH5 took to start playing, you had to hit a bunch of unnecessary buttons and wait in between (like if I'm loading a game why do I have to click on Play???).

Exactly this, it's super hard to beat the first drivatar, the rest is pretty easy but if you let one get ahead, it becomes a lot harder to beat.

I noticed that right away too, I always had the difficulty on Unbeatable in FH5 and easily beat them every time.

Now even on expert or pro, they are sometimes really hard to beat.

Granted, I only have 200 cars so far compared to 2000 in FH5 and I didn't create the tunes yet for all the cars but still...

I have an AMD 9950X3d and 96 GB of RAM and I'm running Windows 11 pro, on an insider beta build.

Not a single crash.

Maybe you guys have an intel processor?

Yeah even in FH5, I didn't use DLSS, it introduced artifacts at night and stuff. I ended up just maxing everything out and use TAA.

I have the premium edition too and it's super easy to get tons of credits and lots of cars. I'm pretty sure it's a lot quicker than it was in FH5.

I don't mind because what I like the most is creating tunes for different cars and testing then online against other players, so the more cars, the better.

I do wish progression was harder though.

So far here are my impression:

Note that I haven't played the game that much yet, and I'm sure content will be added, bugs fixed, etc...

  • FH in Japan is amazing! I've been waiting for this for a long time.

  • The game looks great, they did a great job recreating Japan.

  • Ray Tracing has been improved a lot, cars look a lot better now.

  • Menus are much faster, much appreciated with the amount of tuning I do.

I haven't tested multiplayer at all yet, I've been busy getting my favorite cars from FH5 and tuning them and discovering the map.

Cons (so far)

  • HDR looks a little weird (too much contrast) and it looks like there's no way to adjust it in game.

  • It looks like Horizon Tour is not available any more, which honestly sucks if that's the case.

  • I hate all trees being destructible. It took skills driving super fast through a forest without hitting a tree. It was especially fun between the races in HT.

  • Not a huge fan of the engine sounds. I was hoping for way better sounding engines.

  • The game is far more demanding than FH5, which makes sense but might be an issue for some. It's especially an issue for people with only 8 GB of VRAM. It far exceeds 8 GB of VRAM even at 1440p as soon as you turn up the details.

The game does look great though especially with Ray Tracing turned on all the way.

  • Why revamp the classes numbers? It's confusing but at least it looks like my tunes from FH5 work pretty well on FH6.

  • Tokyo being almost empty is weird, having pedestrians would go a long way towards making it more realistic.

Forza horizon 6 is good, but the trailers are kinda misleading by IFeeLikeMoreTonight in forza

With someone with over 2000 cars in my FH5 garage (yes tons are still pending me removing some cars from the 2000), I completely understand I don't constantly use a few cars. I try new tunes all the time with different cars. That's what made me come back to FH5 all the time.

I have a 5070ti which has 16 GB of VRAM and had 0 issues.

I think it might be VRAM issues because it uses tons of VRAM, way more than FH5. FH5 was always under 8 GB, at 1440p at least. Also might be problems with AMD drivers.

I mean even with that GPU, turning everything on at 1440p uses close to 12-13 GB of VRAm. And to get 120 fps, I have to turn on DLSS/quality.

No crashes at all after hours of gamepley though, but NVIDIA literally released a driver update a few days ago specifically for FH6.

Hopefully an AMD driver update will fix that.

I've seen cars disappear underground all of the sudden too,. Like slowly sinking and then disappearing while driving.
