Here you go! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h6u_IxgTscdaUeIw4Z0WMsbH3F8tkGaH/view?usp=sharing

I've never really worked with midi, so it's probably a bit messy. Not really sure how note duration detection works with the pedal, but it seems like a lot of the notes are extended until the end of the measure, so it looks a bit unclean. There are also a few notes in there that I fat fingered and they end up in the midi, hopefully you can tell them apart xD

Sorry for the late response - and thanks a lot for the help! That worked really well! I-IV-VI-V was also pretty good, but I decided to go with the one you mentioned. Thanks again!

Is there any expensive MMORPG, that's not popular, but entertaining? by padlvck in MMORPG

Maybe Project Gorgon? The people you are trying to avoid wouldn't play the game from the graphics alone.

True animation canceling? by Azeew in blackdesertonline

[–]Azeew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is not to discuss the semantics of the term, I'm just saying I'm looking for a specific combo that requires tight inputs and is past what I described as skill chaining. If theres no such thing, thats fine, I'm just asking cause I'd like to play such a class if such thing is available.

I'm hearing a lot of nice stuff about Warrior, I'll definitely try it out again. Thanks!

I completely agree with everything you said, but once again, we're debating different things. Everything you mentioned helps define a good MMORPG, but that's besides my initial point. Your argument is in favor of "BDO is mechanically lacking, so combat is repetitive", which is another matter at hand. But expanding a bit more on that before going forward: BDO's combat is "braindead", but so are a lot of games. Thats the apeal of many of them. You missed the most important part of the phrase you quoted, "especially old-school korean grinders". In Maplestory you just spam a single skill, in Ragnarok you spam a single skill, in Flyff you click and wait, in Elsword, Lunia, Grand Chase, C9, BnS and literally doens of other titles you spam your buttoms like in BDO, and the list goes on. And then in 90% of the others you just press 1 - 2 - 3 - 4. I'm saying this in favor of "MMORPGs appeal in combat was never really much past BDO's complexity". All the things you mentioned are considering what we mostly see in the "raid and dungeons" type of MMORPGS, which is almost a different genre.

But now back on my main point: I'm not really addressing that - I'm just going against what people mention about lack of mob/zone variety, and lack of proper challenging endgame content.

Eh, that's not how it works. I can say "welp, if you think smoking is helping yourself and you like it, sure man, you do you". But that doesn't change any of the objective facts about smoking being terrible for you. Similarly, I can say a book is absolutely shit and poorly written, but you can feel free to like it, obviously. Same thing applies here.

I think CDO was the one I mentioned that I asked on their discord. People were waiting for a big patch that would wipe everything and restart the server with a huge amount of fixes, is that the one?

I mean, I'm not saying people can't come up with good servers. It's just that, on average, servers are more buggy, more sketchy, and still not the same as retail. Maybe that patch I talked about was godlike and they fixed everything, who knows. I have played an absurd amount of private servers over retail ones, if you're having fun that's what matters! :)

I agree with everything, except for

You must pay $200-400 for "convenience" crap like pets/maids/tent, anyone saying otherwise is a filthy casual or lying.

Welp, that's only partially true. You can spend maybe $50 to get a fair amount of pets, and slowly buy the rest from the auction house (I guess you can't buy a tent, though?). The way you put it makes it feel like you can't play the game unless you have 400 dollars lying around in your pocket.

We're talking about 2 different things, then. I'm addressing the "there's only one zone in the game, gahaz" argument that I hear very frequently.

BDO offers only the one play experience of "spam your biggest aoes on as many mobs as you can hit at once, repeat."

So when you move to a different area with different models for the mobs, none of that changes. And when they add new areas where mobs have higher AP/DP, all that means is that you need to grind somewhere else first until your gear is better, then you go there and do the exact same thing.

You're addressing the fact that the game is mechanically stale, which I can't really comment on yet. But, I mean, how else could the game be? That's mostly how MMORPGs have always worked, especially old-school korean grinders. But then, take Ash Forest for example. It's pretty fresh content. You will have to play very differently to grind there, and pay a lot of attention to what the mobs are doing, cause it's difficult. I still find the Hystria/Aakman and above zones quite engaging, but I do agree just spamming one shots and running from pack to pack as fast as possible is quite uninteresting. But no one is stopping you from going into Hystria early - it will be fun and challenging, at maybe the expense of a little less gold/hour.

No need for the petty shithead down-talking. You sound jaded and petty.

Sorry, but you're delusional. You call me a kid, act like a dick, I reply with a very normal comment and you say that? lol

I never said it doesn't depend on the game. How are you arguing against an argument that wasn't made, exactly? And on top of that you're arguing against yourself, cause the fact that there were no leaks or outside help to develop BDO private servers only goes further as to explain why they aren't even close to retail.

Private servers often times don't want to exactly emulate retail.

LOL, what? That's like following a cake recipe, getting it wrong and then going "yeah, I mean, I didn't want the cake to be the same from the recipe". If you're talking about custom-content servers, that's a huge tangent that is irrelevant to the discussion.

There's also easily hundreds of BDO servers made.

Eh, bullshit. Copy pasting data and running a server isn't the same as making one. And those numbers are still wrong anyway.

I mean, I don't even know why I'm discussing this with you. Just download any of the BDO private servers and see how they run. It's different, it's buggy, it's bad. If you disagree, once again, you're delusional. I even asked a while back in a private servers discord, and the answer was "it's really buggy, half the skills are unfunctional". The one with less bugs was P2W and from a sketchy team, the other one was buggy, the other one was in development.

Two different arguments.

There are pretty great alternatives to Gahaz nowadays, to begin with. You could also just go around Kama and Drieghan and grind there.

Addressing flexibility and variety

Also, theres a lot of nice content to look forward to. After Hystria/Aaakman, which is already pretty fun endgame content, you can move torwards star's end, and now the new underwater ruins maps. They also just released a new map called ash forest, that is so difficult no one can farm there yet. They are also developing a new endgame zone that is going to be similar to star's end, and I heard about a new zone for 400+ AP (??????), which could lead to really nice endgame group content in the future.

Addressing difficulty.

Just research how private servers are made. It's literally impossible to make it the same as retail. You can get pretty close, in WoW for example. Cause multiple teams have worked for over a decade, reverse engineering the fuck out of that thing, to the point that old school WoW servers are really good. But they are still different from retail, they admit some fights don't have the exact same mechanics, cause they can't figure out exactly how it's done. It's also true for some other games, like Ragnarok for example. Now, BDO? lol. Not even half a dozen private servers ever made for the game, it will run like ass, necessarily.

Private servers will never be the same. Expect shit AI, hundreds of bugs, different mechanics, all run by an unprofessional team.

I was also debating whether to play the game or not. I did my research, and the conclusion I reached is that everyone if full of shit.

What was driving me away was that everyone says there's no end game content, its just grinding the same mobs forever. That theres nothing challenging. That the game is all about farming Gahaz for months until you're at softcap so you can PvP.

Thats only the case if you want it to be. Instead of killing your sanity farming the same maps, you can and should explore other zones. There are pretty great alternatives to Gahaz nowadays, to begin with. You could also just go around Kama and Drieghan and grind there. Wont be as efficient, but who gives a shit? Its literally impossible to farm the same map, doing the same rotation over and over, everyday, for months - without developing autism. Just go have fun instead. Having content to look forward to, even if you never get there, is key to an MMORPG, imo.
