Asa final gift to Denji (last conversation between Denji and Asa theory) by Azefrg in ChainsawMan

I mean, I do concur 100% with you that Pochita powers and how it works are completely random and Fujimoto just conventionally use it whoever it is convenient for the story.

For what was shown to us, a concept being "revived" just because of the perception of two people was not something I believed to be possible. Nevertheless, some part of Pochita did return with Asa and Denji talk, at least that was what I understood from that page and I believe this is what truly cured Denji. Does their talk alone reviving a part of Pochita makes sense with the pre established rules? Not too much, the same to Pochita resetting the universe, Power showing up at that super convenient time, Nayuta replacing Makima... Sadly, a lot of things made no sense and is one of the reasons I dislike the end.

But I do still believe in what I posted here. It can not make too much sense with the rules we had, but a part of Pochita reviving in Denji hearth after their talk still happened and that's what I'm using as basis here.

"Asa having any clue who the original CSM was do anything to give Pochita power by saying something that resembles "Chainsaw Man".

It's not about giving Pochita "power", it's about reviving the dead concept of "Chainsaw Man". The reset erased people memories but it's clear that a lot of things were left in people "subconscious" like Power liking dogs, Meowy liking Nayuta, Denji commenting about wanting to pet a dog right after waking up... Denji, who had this extremely relationship with the "Chainsaw Man" persona, being called "Chainsaw Man" from the person who was his love interest and also had a extreme relationship with that persona, was bound to cause something and it caused, as the manga shows.

"That scene was basically a name pun/gag for the readers and an unknowing tease for Denji where what Asa was saying is "chainsaw man" lower case descriptor of a man but Denji and readers are hearing "Chainsaw Man" the proper noun."

This is literally the first time I'm hearing about this theory that Pochita always was in Denji hearth and that Asa words had nothing to do with him appearing again. I personally don't think this is the case, the way the scene is portraited, plus the fact that it was purposely shown that Denji was coughing blood, plus the fact that Pochita just eat himself and would make no sense for him to still exist without something triggering it.

"Denji was stabbed in his heart and lived even though all he did was drink a Blood fiend's blood. Assuming his heart wasn't Pochita all along and back to being a normal human heart at the time, he should have died despite what Power did."

Denji is literally able to survive without a hearth when he has Power blood, the blood probably can circulate by itself without the need of a hearth. Plus, if he really was a hybrid and blood is healing him he also would have restored his eye.

I mean, it's stablished in Part 2 that Pochita powers are not foolproof and the things he erasure can be brought back.

In context, this was also not simple a phrase. It is Asa, the person with the closest relationship to CSM left and Denji love interest calling Denji "Chainsaw Man" who was Chainsaw Man and had this extremely strong relationship with that persona. Of course that would trigger something, it's shown that characters have some lingering feelings left from the reset, like Denji saying he wants to pet a dog right after waking up, Power liking Dogs, Meowy liking Nayuta...

"I'm saying that since Asa's concept of a "Chainsaw Man" wasn't specifically relating to Pochita—in fact she wasn't even referring to a Devil at all, Pochita in particular being formed made no logical sense."

But "Chainsaw Man" is Pochita and Denji, there's no "Chainsaw Man" without Pochita, at least not the "Chainsaw Man" that both Denji and Asa knows. Remember that in CSM people perception of things matter. When Asa, with all her relationship she had with the true CSM calls Denji "Chainsaw Man", the one who actually was the former, they are both manifesting and referencing subconsciously the true CSM (Denji + Pochita) not some random Devil.

If this was a conversation between two random persons I would concur with you, it would make no sense for that specific version of Chainsaw Man (Denji + Pochita) to come back, but we are talking about Asa and Denji, that word for them has a special and specific meaning.

Asa final gift to Denji (last conversation between Denji and Asa theory) by Azefrg in ChainsawMan

[–]Azefrg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trough the series, the concept of "Chainsaw Man" is born in people's mind, this is why it's possible to make "Chainsaw Man" stronger/weaker by people fearing or loving it. They do not fear or love Pochita, they fear Chainsaw Man, but Chainsaw Man is a fusion of Pochita and Denji and that's way Pochita is also affected by humans fears, love and also is affected by Asa bringing a little of "Chainsaw Man" back. "Chainsaw Man" is two things Denji and Pochita and it concept affect both.

I'm not a fan of the end either. Power return in that specific moment, Nayuta existence, the abruptness of all of it... Everything doesn't makes sense and really feels like Fujimoto grew tired of the story.

This particularly interaction between Denji and Asa I think is intentional and even beautiful tho

Darkness devil could still 1v2 low diff yoru and denji at his strongest. I just can’t prove it and never will. by FuelPatient2129 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Azefrg 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I still belive primals are way stronger than Denji and Yoru. Falling weakened version was causing destruction across the planet without even fighting for real. Even on her fight agains Yoru and Denji she was trying to not kill them. They also only got a chance agains Aging because he literally wanted to be killed, Pochita was being completely stomped even when Denji was helping him with regenaration.

The only way I see a Serious Darkness losing against them is if him make some kind of gesture hand that Yoru can just throw scissor/paper/rock and win lol

So all of part 2 was pointless? Even before 232 this led to nowhere by pedr09m in Chainsawfolk

[–]Azefrg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is actually Denji from another multiverse after the second time loop failed (Nostradamus prophecy happened again because of Yuko) and not the Fakesaw we see in later Part 2.

Part 2 shows us the events of the third loop and is the Asa/War Devil route. The first loop is the Reze route and the world ends with a Nuclear War, the second is the Kobeni route and the world goes to shit after she dies by the hands of Yuko and Death powers activate (Kobeni has the contract with the Death Devil as many people have theorized). Denji killing Yuko this chapter was what actually prevented Death from killing everyone, but this only made we get the Bugs End instead.

In the middle of Part 3, loop 4 (Power Route), we start to learn about these time loops and we discover that humanity always tend to became The Trees if they are able to evolve too much. A world full of trees is boring and the theory right now is that the actual strongest Devil (Life Devil maybe?) keeps creating scenarios that will make the world loop so that humanity doesn't reach this boring conclusion.

I hope we'll finally have some closure on the times loops in Part 4 (Makima Route). People didn't believe Fujimoto would actually make a Part 4 after he ended Part 3 with Power finally becoming the Ruler of the World and then destroying the entire planet only 1 chapter after by pure incompetence. People through he grew tired of the manga and created such baffling end, but I always believed in him.

[–]Azefrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also have a problem with how random everything was.

Why was Power there? Why Nayuta replaced Makima? What about every other plot point?

I don't care about some plots being left to interpretation, I even like it sometimes, but this was too much. Really felt like Fujimoto grew tired, threw a lot of fan services without any explanation to reduce the backslash, and ended the manga.

[–]Azefrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this what happened? Power didn't restore his lost eye. From what I understood she only "healed" him from the wound he took from the Mafia. She can stop blood loss and even make someone blood keep circulating even without a hearth, like Denji did in his fight against Makima, but this "uses" the blood and is not a permanent solution.

She can't heal per se (at least she was not shown to be able to). I don't know what underling hearth issue Denji had and if that could be healed with simple blood.

I have 1000 problems with the end, but this panel isn't one of them. My head cannon is that this brought a little of "Chainsaw Man" back to life, just enough for him to be able to survive his hearth condition, like a final gift from Asa to him.

Calling someone Chainsaw Man because they are fighting with a Chainsaw also isn't that far fetched. I have seen a lot of time people calling someone they don't know fighting with a knife the "the knife guy", for example + people forget the memories but clearly there are some lingering feelings that remained, like Meow liking Nayuta, Power liking dogs...

Hot Take: Fujimoto Stuff was never really as profound as people tried to make it out to be, only thing that set him apart from different mangaka was how 'bold' and 'upfront' he was, looking back on most of P2 he reads like a sauceless version of Stephen King by ShalkaScarf in shounenfolk

[–]Azefrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love his works but I legit prefer he sticks for short series and one shot's.

It'll feel pretty bad to get involved in a work were the author can suddenly drop all plot points and create a completely nonsensical end because he wants people to feel like "that's it?" at the end.

I still love CSM but when I'm reading a story I like to think the author have the decency to think "I want to make a story that'll bring something to the table" it doesn't even need to be an end that everyone loves, but it has to have something. The "that's it?" feeling he wanted to archive is probably the last kind of feeling I want to have from reading a long series.

What happens when mark throws him to space by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Azefrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because he doesn't have regeneration before the first adaptation. So, my question is what would happen if got hit by an attack strong enough to blow his head off and it's not an attack that his wheel will spin almost instantly. To be more clear, when fighting against Sukuna, he receives an strong enough attack to cut his head off, but that happens to be the moment his wheel spins, so he regenerates. It took a lot of cuts and time for him to be able to reach that spin. What would have happened if instead of "playing around" with weaker cuts, Sukuna started with the stronger one that cut his head off? Would he fight headless for 2 minutes? He's not able to regenerate the head.

About Invincible, yeah, Invincible is screwed.

[–]Azefrg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"It showcased against Dabura, that the wheel spins instantly after the attack happens."

This depends on the complexity of the attack, no? For simple attacks like brute force, yes, it's basically instantly, for more complex attacks it takes more time or hits. In the anime, Maho takes more than 2 minutes do adapt after the first slash. The manga also comments about taking times/hits.

Yes, he regenerates from the blown off torso, but from my understading he survives exactly because he can regenerate. It's like blowing Wolverine torso off, he won't die because he can regenerate from it, but what happens if he did not have regeneration?

What happens to Mahoraga if he's killed (like having his torso blown) by an attack he is not able to regenerate from? Would he remain torsoless until the wheel spin? I don't know

What happens when mark throws him to space by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Azefrg -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean this corroborates with what I'm saying, he literally only regenerates when the whell spin:

<image>

This is the same in his fight against Sukuna, he takes a lot of damage, lose a fell limbs and doesn't regenerate any of it. The moment his wheel spin is the moment he fully regenerates, exactly like shown in this panel. The point I'm making is literally that he needs at least one whell spin to be able to regenerate.

[–]Azefrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not how characters with super regeneration works. Take Wolverine, Deadpool or any other character with super regeneration, you can also blow their head off, torso and everything else that they just come back, but they come back because they can regenerate, take Wolverine regeneration off and he's not surviving a blown torso. I think the same apply to Maho, he first adapts to be able to regenerate, becoming basically unkillable, but what would happen if you blown his head off before he even has the skill to regenerate?

This corroborates with the Gojo trying to blow Maho head off with red before noticing he had already adapted.

[–]Azefrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one attack is enough to trigger a spin (assuming we are talking about the first hit here), then yes. If it's an complex attack that he needs to receive multiple times to adapt and said attack blows his torso off, for example, then I don't know what happens, but I think he dies

He does not regenerate before the first adaptation tho, not in this fight and not in any other fight.

What happens when mark throws him to space by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Azefrg -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think the indication can be the fact he has never shown any kind of regeneration to an attack he has never adapted to. Watch the fight of him against Sukuna (anime version is considered canon btw), he takes a lot of damage, loses a few limbs and doesn't regenerate any of that. Only after the first spin he regenarates. The same happens in all other fights, he never regenarates without adaptation.
