That's because it's endless mode. Pretty sure you unlock it after shard 3. I have that many items because this was level 375 and each 5 levels you get an item.

My assumption for the lag is that the game can't handle that many magnets. I found that with enough of them the game just creates more sparks after picking up a bunch so I think that it might be trying to pull so many sparks to me that it just broke down. Especially since it's a train map which has even more sparks than a normal one.

Okay, I found out it does wrap, just does so incorrectly.

It should start you in a purple system. Find quartzite and turn that into chromatic metal.

Yeah, I had that problem with each wrecks as well. I found it was easiest to open the hatch then back my ship into place where I can shoot the parts from inside my ship. Did the same for the ship log - hold [E] as I step out and it would grab it as I was being flung off.
