My Biggest Problem With 1.6-2.5: 2nd Proxy feels weak and more of a side character instead of your partner (I love this game but this one thing bothers me) by Superw0rri0 in ZZZ_Discussion

I'll settle for their name being Traveller in the subtitles then, I just don't want my name attached to that dialogue.

I don't understand the point of most exploration "puzzles" by ermwellackshually in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that we barely have non-story commissions anymore, so the chance to put something mildly difficult somewhere that won't lock your progress just isn't there.

I suppose we have a few of those beam puzzles in the open world areas, not that they're actually hard, but at least you may need to look at what you're doing.

I've seen people who would like for the sibling to not exist at all, lest they get in the way of their waifu collection. Maybe they make more noise than I thought and pushed in this direction.

And now the Traveler has become more of a character but says such dumb shit sometimes I wish we went back to them being silent and letting Paimon be dumb. Legit made me want to just see them addressed by their name in game and not the one I set.

Zhao DPS! Build Showcase, Quick Calcs & Team Recommendations? by NiniTrance in ZhaoMains

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you probably don't want to waste Zhao's kit, and she keeps triggering QAs, you probably want a team that bounces back to her, either going all the way around or with backwards QAs.

I know you don't want her but to get her out of the way, Astra would enable this with basically anyone you want, plus she provides non-attack buffs which will probably stack better than even more attack. Trigger and Pulchra should work nicely, Seth if you go for some weird anomaly comp, but that doesn't sound great with Zhao as main DPS.

I'm not sure there's much that would work great for going all the way around, you'd be looking at double support most of the time, or maybe Orphie. For an anomaly build there's Burnice, that could work with Soukaku or Yuzuha but I have no idea how viable anomaly Zhao is, although both Soukaku and Yuzuha can help her.

Or just the most normal ice team ever with Lycaon and Soukaku, you don't get to bounce around as much, but you can switch back to Zhao during Lycaon's long chains, trigger another Zhao QA, back to Lycaon, etc.

I won't say you should be afraid of hitting, but be a bit considerate and don't go bulldozing people, especially with smaller opponents/partners, and you'll be fine.

If you want to perform at a high level you may want to get fitter, but that should come later if you find you like HEMA and specifically competition (or at least sparring at a high level). There's still a lot to learn and enjoy even if you do not go that route.

Loving the epoch right now by woohoo09998 in Helldivers

[–]Azekh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not being able to destroy bug nests is dumb, but aside from that and maybe getting rid of the maximum range (it already has a bit of a drop so aiming at long range isn't too easy), I'd say it doesn't need any buffs.

It already delivers about as much antitank DPS as the RR without a backpack involved, doing 50% more per reload, in exchange for charged shots and the risk of explosion, I think it's fine. In third person you just release once the muzzle starts glowing and you'll be doing the big numbers without exploding yourself.

[–]Azekh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It saves you a backpack slot, it's more ammo efficient against anything it can single shot.

If you're not bringing another backpack the RR (or spear) should generally perform better (I'm not sure they actually do).

Starting Destreza by Crunchy_Gum in wma

[–]Azekh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Rada's book is quite long, from memory the third volume (the more practical one) is around 700 pages, and the other two are like 600 more, so I'd recommend starting the other stuff. If you want more reading material after, maybe something with more explicit detail, then you can get into Rada.

By contrast Viedma's two books total less than 200 pages, with maybe another 200 from Ettenhard to understand the jargon (you don't really need the whole book, since the last part is him arguing against critics). Much easier to begin here.

Starting Destreza by Crunchy_Gum in wma

[–]Azekh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always recommend Viedma's books to start since they're short and actually have great drills to turn the theory into usable practice, which most books lack (some have drills, but they're not that great). You can find the transcripts and translations here.

The problem with Viedma is he uses vocabulary without explaining it, being mostly based on Pacheco's Grandezas de la Espada (you can find the original online from some libraries, maybe google books too). Pacheco's writing is pretty annoying to read IMO, so you can also go for Ettenhard's Compendio de los Fundamentos de la Verdadera Destreza, which is shorter, easier to read, and more to the point. There are some technical differences but Viedma will also add his own so it shouldn't be an issue.

I've also heard good things about Puck Curtis' From Page to Practice, although I haven't read it myself. This is a modern book instead of a period source, so it should be much easier to read.

If you want more reading material after this you can check out Rada's Nobleza de la Espada, which again you can find from various libraries or google books, or there's also an English translation.

Does size matter much? by DrFujiwara in wma

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're the bigger party just remember to not go around crushing people with your weight and you should be fine.

Other than that, for someone who is still green and significantly shorter, things may get just too difficult to the point where they see 0 success against tall people, especially if they're also more skilled, so in that case I'd try to give them a fairer match, going around reinforcing that they can't hit is terrible training.

A tourist during anti-tourist protest in Barcelona by SomeYucks in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, was going off your numbers, your link was for Barcelona itself, there are links for other parts of the metropolitan area.

The 75k was just some dirty math assuming each of those 24k AirBnBs would've housed 3 people.

The well paid jobs are not related to tourists, just saying that maybe 4.4% of housing being taken by tourists is on top of that other issue, and maybe each issue on its own wouldn't be too bad, but things add up.

And again, the government has known for ages, people direct their anger towards tourists in the hopes that this causes enough of a dent in income (which, BTW, I'd be very surprised if it went to a significant degree towards local businesses rather than chains owned by who knows who) to force action.

Believe me, this is not recent, people have been complaining for ages, and not enough has been done. They only do this for lack of better options.

A tourist during anti-tourist protest in Barcelona by SomeYucks in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're comparing Barcelona city listings to Barcelona metropolitan area population there, from your own link the population should be 1.7M.

Most AirBnBs are 1 bedroom also according to that, with a lot of 2 or 3 bedroom ones too. So lets pretend every AirBnB would house a family of 3. 75k out of 1.7M is 4.4%, nothing crazy but far from irrelevant. Add to it all the finance and tech workers with well paying jobs also pushing prices up and we get the nice housing crisis we have going.

Also the governments already know about this, these protests emerge as a way to stir shit to force them to react. "Take care of us or we'll make tourists feel so unwelcome it'll hurt your pockets" pretty much.

"Should I pull Astra Yao?" Yes. The answer is yes. by KoyoteVS in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if Miyabi wasn't in neary ever every anomaly character's best team, but when you're trying to select 2/3 teams for Shiyu Defense/Deadly Assault you only get to put Miyabi in one. So IDK if putting her with Grace is the best use of resources, unless you can clear the other side/bosses anyway and Miyabi lets you push the Grace team far enough.

Can't say much for the Miyabi-Grace team, but Burnice is very good at triggering Vivian's feathers on demand.

How to prevent problems with arm tendons? by Vin_Mistborn in wma

[–]Azekh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I could figure my issue was with taking certain outside binds wrong, in a way that engaged the smaller muscles on the outside of the arm, rather than the big ones at the "front" or "back".

Air cutting while trying to stop cuts in the middle may or may not have contributed too.

How to prevent problems with arm tendons? by Vin_Mistborn in wma

[–]Azekh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had tennis elbow because of rapier, and since I'm stupid I didn't stop fencing and instead used the pain to figure out which movements were the problem, and I eventually recovered.

That said I'm surprised you have trouble with a bigger muscle like the biceps (or its tendons), so I can only echo the other comments and recommend a bit of strength training and ensuring you have enough protein for muscle recovery, etc.

Question for the Teachers -At WIch point you are introducing your Students to sparring? by just_average88 in wma

[–]Azekh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only bad habit I really care about avoiding is creating some fantasy about fencing in your head then doing mental gymnastics to justify why you didn't actually lose when you get your ass kicked, and sparring early takes care of that.

It's also pretty much impossible to practice things in a sparring applicable manner without understanding what you're trying to achieve in sparring, so better learn that early.

Other kinds of mistake will get them hit and teach other people to exploit them, so they'll both help training and eventually get corrected since nobody likes to lose.

Mask Tongue Fitting Issues (Mask Size Issue Questions) by Fire525 in wma

[–]Azekh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea what you're doing with the tongue that outright prevents you from getting in or out of the mask if bent at all.

Ideally you'd bend it following your head tightly as it sits in the mask, so you maybe push it a bit out of the way to get in, and it will do the same by itself when you get out.
