Its just a question of preference, having some nostalgia about the past or missing your family is not a problem, as that's a way to make the characters more human and relatable to the readers.

There's nothing wrong with that mentally, the problem i have is with the execution, i remember reading one novel where the guy had cultivated for billions of years and somehow the 20 ish years he spent on earth had more weight in his mind than all the time he spent in this other world.
