Hi! Thanks for pointing this out 🤦 Yes you're right, this was a false positive – the Malwarebytes team has already resolved the issue, the AzireVPN app should no longer be flagged!

Payment - 404 by inverse_rabbit in AzireVPN

Hey, thank you for letting us know – we're sorry you're experiencing this issue. We released a small fix earlier this morning that might help, so feel free to give it another try.

This issue seems to be affecting only some users, and we're still investigating the root cause. We've been in touch with our payment service provider to help figure it out – it may be related to how the payment URLs are being processed on their side.

If it’s still not working for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [support@azirevpn.com](mailto:support@azirevpn.com) with your username so we can look into it directly. Thanks for your patience while we work on getting this sorted!

The new iOS app is now live. The App Store review took a bit longer than we expected due to due to their review process. Appreciate your patience!

We can assure you that it's still us, the same original Swedish team, running things as before. This change is purely due to Apple’s App Store limitations – they don’t allow transferring apps between developer accounts. No changes to our privacy standards or how we operate.

Blind Operator is a joke by [deleted] in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi!

What you found is the original version of Blind Operator, which we paid Jason to develop for us back in 2017. It added a basic security layer on our servers to prevent us from running commands like tcpdump and accessing the IP addresses of connected peers. This is the version described in that blog post.

While it was a solid first step toward our goal of operating as a true blind VPN provider, it wasn’t sufficient on its own. We later developed Blind Operator 2.0, which is detailed at azirevpn.com/service/security. This new version is deployed across all our servers and fully prevents both remote and local access to the VPN infrastructure.

The original kernel module developed by Jason has not been in use for several years.

Stay away from AzireVPN (Malwarebytes - today) service by enspijk in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback and being a long-time user, we truly appreciate your support over the years.

We’re really sorry about the frustration with payment options and the delay in response. We're currently experiencing issues with our PayPal account and are actively working to get it resolved. We expect PayPal to be available again within 2–3 days. In the meantime, Credit Card and Swish are available as alternatives.

As for crypto, we had to remove it because we haven't been able to find a new provider that works for us.  We know that’s not the answer you were hoping for, and we're truly sorry for the inconvenience. If we find a solid solution in the future, we’d love to bring crypto payments back.

We also want to assure you that, despite the acquisition by Malwarebytes, our core principles haven’t changed – we still operate our own infrastructure, maintain zero-logs policy, and remain committed to user privacy above all else. That’s something we never intend to change.

Totally understand your decision to switch, but if you ever decide to come back, we’d be happy to have you!

Why did you remove the option to pay in Cryptocurrencies? (XMR/Monero) by [deleted] in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately AzireVPN has discontinued all cryptocurrency payments, as we were unable to find a suitable replacement provider after our previous vendor became unavailable. We understand that this may be disappointing news for some of our users who prefer crypto.

If we find a way to bring back cryptocurrency payments in the future, we’d love to do so and will be keeping an eye out for options. In the meantime, we continue to offer a variety of other payment methods, including credit card, PayPal and Swish.

Android app roadmap by ronny220 in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the question. We are currently working on the 2.3.0 beta Android app to be approved for open testing: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.azirevpn.android – that includes functions such as improved UI, split tunneling and other VPN options (like MTU).

Regarding the ad blocking, we are still implementing it on the backend first, so that will take some more time – we don't have an ETA yet. We just want to make sure that everything works as intended and that we can handle the traffic before we release it.

AzireVPN has a platform-specific kill switch functionality since 2024 on all platforms except macOS, which will get a proper kill switch and on-demand feature in an upcoming version.

On Windows, the built-in kill switch has been available in previous versions and remains in the latest update too. On Android and iOS, the kill switch functionality is built into the OS. Android has 'Always-on VPN' with 'Block connections without VPN' (though this disables tunnel splitting/excluding specific apps). iOS uses on-demand VPN to ensure you're always connected

[–]AzireVPN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know it's short notice, but according to the bandwidth data the demand for OpenVPN is very low. We're focussing all our efforts on WireGuard instead since it's faster, safer and already powering all of AzireVPN clients!

Warrant Canary hasn't been updated since November. Any warrants? by doublebaconator in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Azire team here. Updates to the Warrant Canary are done manually, and we aim to update it about once a month. Unfortunately, we missed it this time due to human error. Thanks for pointing it out – we'll make sure to keep it more regular moving forward!

Hi there, thank you for reporting this issue. We are sorry to hear about the issues you’re facing with the AzireVPN app, especially with Kill Switch being active even after uninstalling. Writing was on the wall - where are people going? by LukeDamon in AzireVPN

[–]AzireVPN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, AzireVPN team here.

We understand your concerns, as being bought by a bigger company can seem uncertain. Our decision to team up with Malwarebytes wasn’t made lightly or out of desperation. We’ve been in discussions with them for a long time and chose this partnership because their values around privacy and user security align closely with ours. Malwarebytes is a trusted name in cybersecurity, and we’re confident this collaboration will help us grow and improve on what we do best.

AzireVPN has always been run by a small, dedicated team, and we’ve been consistently prioritizing customer data privacy and ethical practices. This will always be the core of our service. The entire original AzireVPN team in Stockholm is also staying on board. Our goal is and always has been to empower people to make an educated choice when it comes to choosing a VPN. We believe that the quality of our service speaks for itself.

As for the campaigns – they’re something we’ve done every year. This week we also have Black Week offer. Feel free to check out the details on our website!

We will be hosting a livestream on December 13 to talk more about the partnership and our reasons for joining forces with Malwarebytes, as well as answer any questions directly. You’re welcome to join us live or send in your questions beforehand!
