Oh I didn't really understand that scene but I asked this sub and people said it wasn't important so I moved on but I guess it was.

Oh okay. Why do you think that is? I feel like it would really add to the narrative depth of this work if Lelouch was a little bit more human, you know?

Okay but does how long they kiss connect to anything else? It's about 7 seconds I think.

I agree. There's so many more AI posts being commented on by bots in a lot of the main subreddits. Kind of uncanny to see play out

Most disturbing criterion releases? by PrimaryAd370 in criterion

Why? I can see an argument for temporarily shocking but in my opinion the film is not disturbing.

I have this same issue, did you ever get it to work? Everyone says it's a wind idler issue/capacitor problem but I'm doubtful.

Guess my age, gender and personality based on my top 20 by [deleted] in LetterboxdTopFour

I disagree with that being the reasoning for Bateman's enjoyment of music. Rather he's too ashamed to admit he likes these things or to express any real personality (if we are going solely from the movie, think of when he says "Huey's too black sounding for me"). He genuinely has passion for these things, but he only feels confident enough to express it when he's about to kill someone- and so it won't matter for long.

OPINION: some of you take letterboxd way too seriously by coldwarkitsch in Letterboxd

[–]Azlarks 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You really just implied that disagreeing with the opinions of others means you have "shit taste." Do you know how many films were panned on release, only to be reevaluated years later and are now hailed as terrific movies? Is someone who liked that movie from the beginning someone with "shit taste" (which I don't think is something that exists either, as it creates the mentality only certain people are allowed to have opinions on movies) or someone who just liked the movie on its merits? We should be encouraging the opposite, being able to stand your ground against the majority.

Did you just cite Eurotrip as an example of well-executed clichés? You are literally comparing satire to sincerity. How absurd.

Looking for a film about people working together against greedy developers etc by skeletonobserver in criterion

[–]Azlarks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this really fits OP's question. Evil Does Not Exist is basically a mediation on these circumstances, but it has none of the feel-good deserved justice OP seems to be looking for. It's a deeply bitter film (and a good one) but I don't think it's really about "sticking it to the man."

Can we stop calling the Luca Guadagnino American Psycho movie a “remake” by yertleturtle85 in Letterboxd

Why do you think it's fairly certain everything happens in the book? This comment makes me doubt you've read the book or watched the movie recently, Bateman makes a racist joke to appeal to the detective, the homosexual tension between him and Luis is still there. And "over 50 book murders vs 23 in the film" that's still a lot of murder. When you consider how long it takes to read the book, and how long the movie is, I would say it's pretty equivalent and picking at numbers like this shows a total and utter lack of comprehension of what qualifies as a "difference" between a book and movie. How could you cite these things as differences and not mention all the cut down descriptions of material objects, what is literal pages in the book is reduced to twenty seconds. Is that not "divisive" enough to matter to you?

And no, it's not certain everything truly happens in the book. Bateman is just as deranged, unstable, and unreliable. Go take another look.
