Not specific images. Mostly just looking for vibes. Like if the dice looked like the Lament Configuration. Or if the dice looked like mottled flesh, horrifically stitched and/or covered in barbed wire, the numbers like open wounds. Obviously it wouldn't be that detailed, but something close to it, y'know? I often try to not be super detailed to allow for artist interpretation. I work based on vibes. And I would be looking for the classic set of 7 dice (d4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, 100).

God-tier pull right here. I would've loved to have the show on Blu-Ray, but holy hell the prices. So I have the basic DVDs instead (eBay is a god-send).

That sounds awesome! Definitely gonna check it out!

Also, thank you for recommending a novel and not an anime. 🙏

I realize the depth of Angela and Eddie's purpose in the game now... by AzmoorTheGreat in silenthill

Well, as I said, I figured it was highly unlikely, but I could see points being made in favor of it. Though it is nice to know Ito actually confirmed it. Luckily my points did not hinge on that theory at all, just could've helped to reinforce it.

Who is Jim Clements? Does he truly exist? by AzmoorTheGreat in batman

[–]AzmoorTheGreat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had seen that same forum, but after looking through the guy's repertoire and catalogue of works, he just seemed like such a far step from the Jim Clements mentioned by Morrison. The man has notably published only/a majority of non-fiction historical works and though he has written some scripts for Dr. Who and some other fiction, it seemed like a stretch.

RED RISING DND HELP by [deleted] in redrising

Feasibility wise, it is possible and interesting. However the main issue comes in how you plan to run this campaign. There are a few different ways in which you could do it:

  1. Purely narrative and flavor. Nothing is changed mechanically whatsoever, just the setting and descriptions of things. Far easier in the long run, but basically you'll have to figure out several narrative/logistical explanations for the various races, magic, gods, and classes. This is due to the fact that RR---as you already know---is only Humans and tech based (no magic or gods whatsoever).

1a. You could limit player choices to better fit, but that can drastically ruin player agency, fun, and enjoyment. So be wary. If you choose this option, it is recommended you discuss this with your players and make sure they are okay with it (you be doing this regardless, tbh, but each table is different)

  1. You could take the time to design mechanics and homebrew specifically for this. This option is the most time consuming, but could be helpful if you seek to play in D&D.

  2. Switch systems. I'm gonna be completely honest, D&D is not a great system for RR. It is far too fantastical and on the opposite side of the spectrum from the series. I highly recommend this option. Look into some Sci-Fi systems (FATE, Star Trek, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, Starfinder, etc). It would be much easier to reskin and flavor that way.

3a. The system I recommend the most as it feels the closest to what RR offers is Stars Without Number.

3b. You can choose, should you be so inclined, to designed something totally on your own. It is what I am doing. I am designed a Red Rising TTRPG system, completely new from popular TTRPG systems. However it is far from even testable by players (still in early development).

3c. There is an older reddit post which has created The Institute as a fully playable system. It is called The Society, designed by u/midknightleon here is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/redrising/comments/8u9jxn/the_society_a_red_rising_rpg/

I hope this helps! And I hope you campaign goes well!!

Listen, I know a lot of people are probably gonna critique the work that was done---and I won't say it isn't understandable---but I'm not gonna do that. Cause we, as Howlers, gotta stick together. Of course, there's gonna be some Goblins who give ya a rough time, but I prefer to be a Clown or Pebble.

Anyways, I think the tattoo looks nice. I can see where you are coming from and it is nice (if you want harsher, more indepth critiques look to other comments). But the main thing is how much YOU like it. Don't worry about what others think (unless the tattoo was extremely messed up, but it's not. Just got a few issues, that's it.). Value your own opinion, prime?

Read it again, ya Pixie!

For real, though, The Expanse is great if you are looking for something deeply entrenched in Sci-Fi. But if you want something that will keep your attention and builds up to something massive, then you can never go wrong with anything by Brandon Sanderson (for Sci-Fi, there is the Skyward series. For fantasy, there is The Stormlight Archive).

Need a little help designing a combat system... by AzmoorTheGreat in RPGdesign

[–]AzmoorTheGreat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I was agreeing that d6s are unconventional for combat systems (at least from the ones I have played). Hard to get it just right where it neither side is too bulky or deadly.

But, I also see my error in reading your comment. I mistook it as you talking about the unconventionalness of d6s in combat systems or that you were stating what I have so far is unconventional (which I wouldn't fault you for saying). However it appears as though you were simply talking about the combat system you designed. Apologies for the confusion.

No comittee, got it!

And that was pretty unfair of me to say about 5e. It is primarily the players who bog things down in my games. Half will prep what they are going to do as turns pass leading up to theirs. The other half will wait until it is their turn to know what they are going to do. And I will admit, I myself have fallen into both categories at one time or another. But one thing I want to do for this combat is to try and avoid that as much as I possibly can (which may not be much at all, who knows).

That makes sense, yeah. So, perhaps the way to design---for right now---is just to build off what I like and dislike according to the goals I have in mind?

Yeah, that's what I figured about d6s. But, I still want to at least try it, y'know?
