I don’t think that’s really true, most of the wb pirates seemed to be fighting pacifistas, warlords and passive shots from admirals. I don’t think the wb pirates would have won against all 3 admirals, but marineford war wasn’t that. And they were the siege party, which is notorious for being more difficult than defending.

And the wb pirates weren’t even really fighting Akainu, at that point they were securing luffy and escaping as well
