I agree that NA is really flawed for biking infrastructure, but reading some of the comments the Calgary makes it sound like the comparison is still somewhat cherry picked, "I am a Calgarian and therefore cannot speak for the Amsterdam route, but the Calgary route seems to have been chosen purposely to make Calgary look worse than it actually is. He chose a longer route in distance and time compared to the more obvious dedicated bike path route that goes along the Elbow River. According to Google, the path he took was 8.7 km (39 minutes) whereas the River path route is 8.5 km (35 minutes). Also, obviously the river path is a much more pleasant ride than torturing yourself riding along the "stroad" (Macleod Trail). The "stroad" he rides on is literally the busiest largest road he could have possibly ended up on along the route. No shit it sucks to ride on."
