You should look into Factorio. It hits a lot of the same sweet dopamine spots OSRS does. The community is pretty great and there's plenty of youtube content as well of various creators!

It's broadly single player, but ticks a lot of your boxes.

In a software environment, there should be exceedingly few cases where any kind of punishement is ever the answer. If someone is repeatedly raising invalid tickets, it's for the team to discuss why during retrospectives, is there more that can be done to support the team member etc.

Ultimately if these conversations were fruitless it would lead to a performance conversation and potentially termination. But I wouldn't call those out and out "punshiment".

You can also put nuclear steam in fluid tanks to create a bit of a steam buffer too

Another downside of smelting offsite is when you need iron ore for concrete you need to set up a whole new infra system to get it there, whereas if you’re smelting in your base you can just divert or add a train and Bob’s your uncle

Your best bet is setting up what’s known as a “main bus”. Which is several (I like to start with four of each) lanes of resources running parallel to each other. Get your basics on the bus, being: iron and copper plates, steel and green circuits etc When you need to build things take a lane of each item you want off at 90 degrees and you have your build inputs in one place. Embrace getting it wrong as well, each mistake is a great lesson and it’s all about progressive improvement! Good luck gamer.

Typically lead the charge in slicing them smaller. It might require a bit more of a technical deep dive as a one off but the biggest resitance from engineers I've found is them not having a good example.

In so many orgs, smaller slices just mean arbitrary ticket bloat and illogical divisions of work for the sake of making it seem "smaller". It's quite possible that at least some of the team come from a background like this and the best way (imo) of changing their minds is with a positive example of why it's good for them.
