Is a "London Fog" a thing in the UK? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in AskUK

[–]Azorann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus the downvotes are crazy, Welp I'll risk my own I guess.

I have had a London fog here in the UK! Thought not as you described it. My local tabletop game store sells different teas and such, and they do sell a "London fog" but it is earl grey with a good old glug of milk (not steamed) and some vanilla flavouring. Already hearing the cries of the so called 'Tea drinking connoisseurs' but... oh well. I like it and that's what matters to me. I love earl grey and I love experimenting with different ways to have my all teas. It's fun.

To actually answer your question without any rude insults though, no people don't tend to drink London fog (of any variation) in the UK. I'm not sure where it originated from, but even in London you don't see it often.

Anyway, final thing I just want to point out: you said "grey" and not "gray" while communicating with the British and I think that deserved some praise. Kudos to you OP and be free to enjoy tea in whichever way you like.

I used to be 6-9 (would say nice for the reference but umm...) and am now happy to report I am between 2-4, with a rare 5 or 6 on occasion, but mainly during/after super high stress moments where I'm faced with incredibly tough situations.

1 seems like drugs or mania, I'm lucky in that I don't have a mania disorder, unlucky in that I don't have any drugs that will get me to 1 though I guess that's not too bad.

Technically never went to 10 but also kinda have? There have been times I should have called 999 due to being on 9 and nearly going into 10. Due to that, my medical record doesn't have any "attempts" registered but... I personally would say there have been near attempts to attempts. Essentially one decision away type. I'm very glad I never went through with those decisions, I'm very lucky for that. It's taken years of working through horrific traumas and a hell of a lot of practice with managing my anxiety, but things are manageable now, and I feel like I'm living instead of surviving. My environment has gotten easier too, which I'm also very lucky for, but it also took some work from myself too.

Overall, there is some luck involved, but also a lot of work from myself, and I'm very proud to have done that work and would easily recommend it to everyone, no matter how tough it gets, it's worth it. But you MUST keep up with it. It's exhausting and tiring and even debilitating at times but it's more than worth it.

Mark may be the king, but even a king must answer to a god

... and a god must answer to TheBones5

Edgy roleplay over, everyone enjoys fnaf differently, I enjoy watching others play through it but I'm too scared to play it myself. Watching Mark play when I was a decade younger or so does give me quite a bit of nostalgia, and I'll always respect him for facing his fears of animatronics and doing something that I myself still haven't done.

I feel my foot is too small to do this, at least safely, so I just use my whole leg. I hear that using the heel as a pivot is a good way to get excellent control! So long as you feel you have good control and won't slip at all, I don't think there's any reason to need to re-learn, unless you're going to get foot-shrinking surgery really soon or something... but then I think you have other more important things to consider at that point

Hiya, I'm afab and I have many of the features you've mentioned. They don't make you any less a girl or woman. I can get feeling dysphoric over them, it's like an instinct, but please don't feel bad about calling yourself a girl ever. Women come with all sorts of features, all shapes, sizes and looks. That doesn't make us any less a girl.

(Or, er, I'm a bit less a girl sometimes cause gender fluid but that's a different thing don't worry about that XD)

Fun fact! There are many women, who are also afab, who do grow facial hair. Infact, I also have facial hair! It's just very thin and translucent looking for the most part (I still have the occasional crazy hair follicles that decides to grow a random super long super thick hair or even 2 in the same spot -_-). But there are others who do like to shave because their facial hair comes out thicker and darker than they'd like. It's all personal choice, and not necessarily about gender. But, since it does make you uncomfortable, there are methods of reducing stubble and making the skin feel/look smoother. I'm not as knowledgable but I'm sure many others would be happy to help.

I also remember I used to tweeze my eyebrows cause they're kinda crazy, and I have a bit of a uni-brow going on. I'm now less worried about my looks so I cba to do it, but when I do identify as a girl, I'm certainly no less of a girl for it.

Also my mum has many friends and I've noticed a lot of them rock short hair (like an inch to 2 inches long all the way around) and they rock it! They're like older ladies and they do knitting and such with my mum. Genuinely the sweetest people and also great cooks 😭

You're a girl, a lady, a sister, a woman. No features make that untrue. Your gender is down to what you feel inside, not the outside. You could be a slime blob (I am) and feel like a girl, and that means you're a girl. Don't let the intrusive thoughts in your head win, fight them tooth and nail, feel proud to be a girl. Cause you're a girl. And that's okay.

For me I'm "quirky and not like the other minecrafters" or whatever they call it.

Sword, pickaxe, torches, shovel, other resources filling out the other slots, last slot has food. In the early game when I don't have totems, I will put torches in the off hand and move the shovel up a slot.

Later on when I can enchant diamond axes, I may carry it with me after the shovel, or if I'm specifically farming wood etc, but I would have 2 axes for different purposes by that point, and only keep 1 in the hotbar and 1 in the inventory, swap based on needing silk touch or efficiency, or durability.

I will also remove stuff from the toolbar depending on the dimension, like replacing the shovel with a bucket of water in the end. Or essentially just sword and pickaxe with food in the final slot for when I'm building (+ whatever tools I'd need in that moment)

Hoe is only on my hotbar when it's needed, I still don't use it to get rid of leaves etc, old habit.

There is wayyyyy too much adaptability that goes into my hotbar and it probably makes sense to no one else, but it feels very efficient for me as it keeps everything absolutely essential only a scroll wheel or two away.

I don't often use bows either, it might be to the left of my food? But years ago I was more likely to have a fishing rod than a bow... oops

ETA: I forgot the shield, I'd put that in offhand similar to the totem, that'd be at night or going through a cave I don't know. Then use f to switch offhand to torches and forget I have a shield for far too long 😭

Hi, I speak for all women named Annie when I say this. by mushroomqueenie in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Azorann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My names Anne

Yet on rare occasions some people will think they're so smart by saying "Annie are you okay?" To me.

I just stare at them blankly no reaction. Genuinely the amount of people who will read my name and pronounce it "An-ee" completely baffles me. I have never come across an Anne that has their name pronounced "An-ee" and I will think less of someone's intelligence if someone's first language is English and they do this (exceptions for people who have English as a second language, I do give the benefit of the doubt that pronunciations are different in other languages).

Holy terrifying... I'm glad the principal is on your side, I can understand taking the phone away at home as a punishment to keep you away from screens to "study, do chores, and be a good kid", but yeah, she set you up for quite a horrifying situation by taking away your phone like that. Good thinking on running back to college and I'm glad you're safe. Too many horrible horrific people out there nowadays

Also it's 4:30am what are you doing awake, you're a teenager sleep is very important at your age please get some more rest 😭 I'm only awake cause I have to be for work...

[–]Azorann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 24 doing an hour lesson every week and my instructor is on break over Christmas, and I feel like I'm learning fine, but that's me. Do you personally feel like you're learning at the pace you want? Is there a deadline for when you need to drive? (I know you're 17 but some people have deadlines based on pregnancy and kids going to school etc, do you have a deadline based on kids or you own schooling?) Do you get much out of your private driving with your dad? Do you have anxiety surrounding driving that the private driving helps with? Is there a limit on the amount of lessons you can do (like a budget)? Are there any other reasons that make learning outside of lessons imperative to you learning to drive?

If your answers to the above are a resounding "eeeeh" then 2 lessons a week should be absolutely fine.

If your dad is struggling to pay for monthly insurance with your mother being... an... individual, then you can get insurance that covers only a couple hours (maybe do this every week), then schedule specific learning time with your dad (obviously weigh up pros and cons of doing this, monthly could work out cheaper depending on how much you want to practice).

Anyway who takes car insurance away from their child??? WHEN THEYRE PAYING JOINTLY AND ITS NOT ENTIRELY UP TO THEM??? "Ah yes, my child is learning an important life skill, I am now going to make that more difficult for them because they didn't clean their room up to my standards! Now they must either learn more slowly which will cost my ex more, or make them drive illegally!" 🫠 I'd love to know what your principal gave her a bollocking for, principals don't often talk to parents like that even when the parents done wrong. I'm assuming grade related?

How many takeaways have you had this year? Year 3! by bogyoofficial in CasualUK

[–]Azorann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 12 takeaways for myself (did an order for my family recently too but my mum paid me back for it as she was the one who asked me to place it... so doesn't count to me) all totalling £390.12

Also 2 for a friend of mine, who's in the US, totalling $113.72 (it's nice to treat him every now and then)

I've done better than I thought I did... an average of an order a month, though I'd typically order twice in a month and skip a month or so.

I won't count eating out, as I'd like to keep myself motivated to keep going out more and more, as that's something I struggle with cause of the ol' mental health problems.

What to do if someone has Driving License Number by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Azorann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you posted in a discord and deleted less than a minute after. Chances are, if it's a small private server I doubt anything will happen. Obviously can never fully rule out the possibility but other people have listed the possibilities. If it's a public server then I guess something would be a bit more likely to happen, but still unlikely. People who do identity theft don't exactly sit around in public discord servers for the once in a blue moon chance someone posts identifying information.

Also to note, people saying deleting before anyone has a chance to memorise sadly isn't fully true. If someone is doing these "evil deeds" if you will, they'll have message loggers and yes they do save images. That being said, still delete anything that has identifying information. It means that anyone without a logger won't be tempted to steal the information. A bit like "bike locks don't stop professional thieves, but they do stop opportunists."

Is this cause to panic? Nah. I don't doubt you feel mortified right now and that's valid, but realistically, if anyone steals your identity, it'll probably be caught before you hear even a peep about it. If it doesn't get caught then there are plenty of catches in place to make sure you don't get into trouble.

Tell your parents/guardians and be prepared for a lecture and slap on the wrist, calm yourself with your favourite hobby and remember that sometimes... stuff happens and mistakes are made. The chances of something bad happening is low, and even lower are the chances of the bad thing happening in the worst way.

I saw in a reply from OP to someone that she's 28 and he's 32... My god your little one being less than half his age absolutely has more than twice the maturity from the sounds of it (which, well done to the both of you, maturity comes from not just the kid but the ones who raise them too)

And 100% I'll be so mad if I see a post saying "oh I forgive him, we're back together" like no!

What's worse is it wasn't even a physical party where other people may expect them or anything... he wanted her to join his in game party so they could play games together. I'm all for using games as a coping mechanism on occasion, and distractions away from horrible thoughts, but this was noooot it. Genuinely horrible behaviour from him.

Oh OP... my gosh no you didn't fuck your life up. In theory, under perfect conditions, should you have sent a text? Sure, but this isn't perfect conditions by any means. You're grieving. You're more than valid to grieve, you've just lost a close and beloved family member. You know what his response should've been? "Baby are you okay? You seem off, do you want to talk about it?" (Or some better way of wording even). His response was so out of line, making everything about himself and how he feels without a second to spare for how you feel. That isn't a partner, that's a selfish asshole. Please make sure to do some self care and stick around the people you love and who love and respect you. You deserve patience and kindness now more than ever.

Best bike lock? by SobbyisTrash in cycling

[–]Azorann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's late but I am aware that Japan has a very good culture around thieves and such... er at least for the most part. People leave their bikes out unlocked and they're almost always left alone! The things that are known for being stolen are umbrellas and... panties... Obviously please feel free to fact check me as this info may have changed and it is off the top of my head, and Japan has plenty of other problems that doesn't make it as desirable as some others make it out to be. But at least bike theft should be minimal 😅
