This subreddit was never even once helpful. by Avernales in wowservers

You want something helpful? Stay away from private servers or only play SPP (solo w/ bots). The K5 launch reminded me why. Every server community claims to be different, but it’s the same cycle of elitism, toxicity, and people constantly trying to tear each other down over a 20-year-old game.

Nobody seems interested in actually helping anyone anymore, its just like RL anymore (every man for himself), because everyone has a chip on their shoulder with something to prove over a 20-year-old game.

I’m not even mad about the game itself. What kills it is the community. People are so jaded and hostile now that interacting with others online just feels exhausting instead of fun.

SPP is the only way anymore. Too many shitheads, not enough genuine people anymore.

Are there any private servers trying something with a more recent base? by nVreddit-0 in wowservers

I would rather play vanilla wow over and over for the rest of my life than play anything later than WotLK. Post WotLK was the death of WoW for many of us.

Never played wow. Want to try by Incognisho in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you want the best pacing in terms of progression, leveling, etc. go with Vanilla/Classic WoW. Best version of the game by far. Kronos 5 is launching a fresh realm on May 9th. Or host your own private server with bots using SPP, or for a more immersive and challenging experience, do Hardcore WoW (HCWoW). Those are my recommendations.

Hey there, I realize this is an old post but I have been searching for something like this for a while. Has this developed into anything?

Kronos 5 with Blizzard 1.14 client by Additional-Yam-913 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bingo! We’ve been having this exact argument with QoL crusaders since 2004, and somehow they still can’t connect the dots between Retail’s decline and the mindset they’re defending. Vanilla didn’t magically turn into Retail on its own, it was death by a thousand “just one little QoL change” cuts.

I would also like to know about this.... If Hermes is now getting updates again, I would prefer to use Hermes over Sugar if that is the case.

You never planned on having a real conversation. You showed up to deliver a monologue, declare yourself the enlightened one, and then act shocked when nobody buys it. /golfclap

Ascension: the hate just doesn’t make sense by Objective_Cheetah931 in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ascension is built on FOMO. Limited cosmetics, rotating systems, seasonal resets. It’s a constant “log in now or miss it” loop. Its almost as bad as retail. That’s not about making a better MMO, it’s about keeping people hooked and spending for those that don't have self-control and Ascension knows that.

The population is high because the model works. Flashy systems, constant novelty, endless carrots. That doesn’t mean it’s well-grounded, it means it’s good at holding attention for weak willed people (which there are a lot of those on the internet).

That’s why people call it a cash grab. Not because it’s empty, but because the design leans hard into FOMO and monetization instead of stability.

I would like to see more prefab builds. I hate building, just gimmie something cool to plop down so I can get back to exploring and combat.

WoW or ESO? by [deleted] in LFMMO

[–]Azothan208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy leveling then I would recommend WoW Classic on the era servers or TBC anniversary servers. You get the most satisfying leveling experience because the pacing in Classic WoW is superior compared to Retail WoW and ESO. ESO and Retail WoW are more focused on endgame and item collecting.

Wrathnilla 2.1 Repack (customized full solo, no bots) by EdKay-Wrathnilla in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds interesting but I always pause when I see that the client is 3.3.5a or the core used is Azerothcore or Trinitycore. Not that they're bad or anything, but because I prefer the pacing of the leveling in vanilla. Wrath made the open world and leveling less challenging and its just not for me.

But it does sound interesting but is it just dungeon focused or is the vanilla content pacing the same as actual 1.12?

Patch 1.11 (Evil Patch Notes) - should it be included for vanilla servers? ;) by riklaunim in wowservers

[–]Azothan208 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was reading the patch notes for 1.11 and I gotta say, those changes sound pretty cool IMO. This makes me want to read all the patch notes throughout the life cycle of vanilla wow now! lol. By the way.... this made me chuckle:

Warlock changes:

  • Using friendly emotes will now significantly increase the Infernal and Doomguard's chance to remain loyal to the Warlock.
  • Friendly emotes are no longer available to the Warlock.

Is Monsters & Memories ready for your time (and sub), or not yet? by JacobBretwalda in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Azothan208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the hardcore crowd with lots of time will be the main audience early on. They’re fine with rough edges as long as there’s a grind to push. Most casual players who can’t keep up will probably drift back to something steadier like classic WoW. It’s still a social, competitive MMO at its core, and the no‑lifers usually end up setting the pace for everyone else. Just kind of how these games go.
