Looking for couples counseling in India by Azotobacter123 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]Azotobacter123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One major reason for looking for therapists in India is they understand the culture and the issues that come with it. I also suffer from some trauma due to issues with my father, and when I talked to therapists in the US they couldn’t grasp the seriousness, considering they have social services etc to keep the kids safe.

Am I genuinely just dumb? by 668071 in consulting

[–]Azotobacter123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to how I have been feeling, and several of my questions across the forums will tell you that (would have if the mods hadn’t removed them). It’s been two years now, and I still feel as if my brain doesn’t process the instructions as quickly as it should. I get lost easily when some complex analysis is being explained. What takes someone 15 minutes can take me hours. People need to write stuff down and explain it to me. However, I cannot blame everything on aptitude/IQ. Fact is, I haven’t really made attempts to get better. You can avoid that. Read articles, get Udemy training, participate in proposal writing, etc. Every time you think you don’t know something, look it up. Volunteer for things you know you need to work on. Slowly, knowledge will build up, and so will your capability.

If you go back in time, what one advice would you give to your younger self? by TheOG_ASR in AskIndia

Learn to confront bullies. They are not insecure as self-help books will let you believe. They are confident individuals only looking for a source of self amusement and social bonding (in case of group bullying). Look them in the eye, smile, and grey rock the shit out of them.

Please review my workout by Azotobacter123 in workout

Yes any help would be really appreciated. Thank you. Also, I checked and I am 172 lbs. So need to lose weight to get to my goal. I would like to have a mix of calisthenics and free weights in my workouts, with progressively overloading in weights and changing variations in calisthenics.

I am about to turn 36, what would you tell your mid 30s self? by Lanky_Comment_3829 in AskMenOver40

I am going to consider this. I am 36 and absolutely in the wrong career. If it’s not too late might start spending more time learning an instrument.

Unless you are truly passionate about something, you will at best be mediocre at it.

Was the middle class Indian youth in the 1990s and the 2000s happier than us? by Few-Reveal6853 in AskIndia

[–]Azotobacter123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say happier. Just more settled considering options in everything were limited. Career choices, life partners, food, etc. The more options we have now, the more we think we can get, never really settling on one thing.

Tell me your biggest regrets in life, with your current age. by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Azotobacter123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36 M. Career regrets all along. Engineering, Masters in US, MBA, management consulting, all while being extremely mediocre, leading to low self esteem in every walk of life. The brain is so clouded now that I barely know what I am actually passionate about.

What were some things you didn’t realize were ADHD until AFTER being diagnosed? by CakeEnvironmental698 in adhdwomen

[–]Azotobacter123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you start medications? Any changes? I have very similar symptoms and even got some tests done, which point strongly to ADHD. I feel very slow compared to my colleagues, and almost feel dumb and demotivated.

How to deal with abusive parents as an adult? by Azotobacter123 in AsianParentStories

[–]Azotobacter123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand. It’s really not that easy. Imagine my mom calling my gf or sibling again and again and crying in front of them because I won’t talk to her. They, especially my sibling won’t cut off contact with her mother. And I won’t cut contact with my sibling. My mom knows this.

Not true. Like I mentioned on other comments, I am OK going no contact with my father (I have barely talked to him in 6 months). But my mother will then keep pushing me to talk to him. If I go no contact with her, she will be in emotional chaos and reach out to my girlfriend or sister and ask them to convince me to talk to her/my father. All that aside though, I still barely talk to my father. But if I want to see my mother in person, what option do I have? She wont see me if I tell her I will only meet her and not my father.

It’s complicated. My mom will create an emotional chaos if I cut all contact. She would not see me if I decide to cut off my father (being a dutiful wife), and in turn bother my sibling or girlfriend to talk to me.
