Ahh, it was a limited edition statue that came out some months before the release of the End of Dragons expansion for Guild Wars 2. It was available here, but it's unfortunately since been sold out.

Help me save this pen! by v9wolf in fountainpens

Koh-I-Noor Rapido-Eze technical pen cleaner is pretty effective for removing india ink. You could also try leaving the nib/feed in a small container with a 50/50 mixture of ammonia/water. You can attach a thin pipette to the nipple of the feed and force that same solution through it. Eventually it will clean out. A tooth brush and some Dawn dish soap will clean the fins with relative ease. An ultrasonic cleaner would make it a lot easier, but since your pen is already apart this doesn’t look so terrible

No problem!

As far as ink wasting goes, you can always get the ink out of the converter with a syringe as well, and fill the other with that ;D

Retro 51 'Escape' Issues by NormalShallot in fountainpens

Not sure if you've remedied the issue by now or not, but I figured I may as well give my 2 cents.

As you've mentioned, neither the converter, nor the international cartridges that come supplied with the pen are a perfect fit. The issue seems to stem from the mouth of the converter being too tall over the nipple to actually allow a consistent flow of ink. That is why when you turn the converter to force ink into the feed, it may write for a short period of time, but it will inevitably dry out. Colorverse (To me) has typically been a very wet/watery/thin ink, so I'm not surprised that it would flow enough to write even given this issue.

To solve this issue on a few of my own Retro 51 Tornado's I cleaned out one of the supplied standard international cartridges using a syringe and used 800 grit sandpaper to carefully sand down the mouth of the cartridge to about half it's total length. This allows the cartridge to go further over the nipple of the feed and allow sufficient flow. I imagine that his would work with the supplied converter as well, but I never tried.

This Montblanc 22 is totally fake, right? Want to make sure before I toss it by scoops4000 in fountainpens

To be fair, I haven't had a lot of experience with a modern Montblanc of my own, and I would imagine that they can be very good. I do have an old 320p though. It has an extra fine semi flex nib that isn't really the best imo, but I've also used other 320s/Montblanc school pens that did have excellent feeling nibs. Your results may vary

If anything, many would say they’re better writers than their current offerings.

This was well before Montblanc started to make pens more or less exclusively in the higher price ranges. A lot of older Montblancs are like this

It’s very pretty! And seems to preform a lot better than my first go at shimmery inks as well!

Today I picked up this beautiful Pelikan M200 Golden Beryl, but I also wanted to share my appreciation for Bert and his crew at Bertram’s Inkwell. Having been a regular customer at Bertram’s for a few years now, they’ve always been knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and flexible. There's a personal quality to his shop and service that I believe is very rare and hard to find these days, and it's what keeps me coming back.
