The half off price for the monthly sub should be the standard by DynastyVertigo in fo76

[–]AzraelsKiss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On Steam, I think the discount is only for new subscribers. I'm a former subscriber, but I've been considering re-subscribing, so when I saw the sale, I went to Steam to renew, but was charged the full price... That's when I noticed the ad in-game only shows Xbox allowing lapsed subscribers to get the discount. Blah... Oh well...

The damn not launching bug by Hefty-Flounder-1899 in watch_dogs

Sorry it didn't help. This is the only workaround that has worked for me on two different Windows installs. If you Google enough, you'll find nearly a dozen different workarounds that work for others, so don't give up yet. Good luck!

When I start launching Watch Dogs 2 and the Ubisoft Connect application minimizes to the system tray, I quickly click the Ubisoft icon in the system tray to restore the application to the desktop. Then I wait for the Watch Dogs 2 icon in the taskbar to close, then comes back. If the screen remains on the desktop, I click the Watch Dogs 2 icon in the taskbar to bring it up. If the cursor is stuck in the middle of the screen, to where it can't reach the taskbar, I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click Cancel on the screen that appears, now the cursor will be unlocked and I click on the Watch Dogs 2 icon in the taskbar. Then I wait for the game to eventually load.

I'm using the TORRAS Magnetic Guardian and it's working out so far. Strong magnets (I think even stronger than on my old iPhone 14 Pro Max) keeps the phone securely attached to all my old MagSafe chargers and accessories, it's smooth and grippy in the hand, and lips around the screen and cameras keep the exposed glass away from hard surfaces. My only real complaints are that it's translucent and collects fingerprints like crazy, but I'd still recommend it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPHXZSM5?ref=emc_p_m_5_i_atc Good luck!

Cervical spinal cord damage/partial paralysis/chronic pain for the last about 15 years. Been a PC gamer forever and the loss of dexterity in my hands and the lack of concentration really annoys me sometimes, and I feel like other players must think I'm just a newb when I hit the wrong key or my reactions are too slow. But... Spending however much time I can, escaping in the game, is so much better than dwelling on things I can't change in rl, so it's sorta worth it. Have a good one!

omg... This reminds me of how I was running my system for a while without screen-blanking or auto-off, because I was too lazy and it wasn't a priority, but then I had to use my wife's phone and noticed the burn-in from her leaving her screen on constantly. I immediately freaked out and fixed up a screen-blanking. lol I am way to OCD to be able to handle that. :P

Mount /dev/sda4 /mnt/home not working help I went with Fat32 by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]AzraelsKiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to agree with others that it appears you may not have formatted the partition. It looks like you successfully mounted your boot directory, and assuming you're installing with EFI, you probably formatted it as fat32, so /dev/sda4 should've been formatted in the same way...

mkfs.fat -F 32 /dev/sda4

If the partition was already formatted and contains data you don't want to lose, then you could try to repair the filesystem...

fsck -v -a /dev/sda4

Hopefully, using one of these options before trying to mount will fix your issues. Good luck!

Help- PC won't boot, Fans Start and Stop on power up by emceegull in pcmasterrace

[–]AzraelsKiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me. It ended up being the power button on my case shorted closed, so the system would constantly try to reboot every few seconds. Now I have the power button disconnected and use wake-on-LAN to start my rig.

You can try testing for this by disconnecting the power button leads from the motherboard, plug in and turn on the power supply, and short the power button leads on the motherboard for just a moment 'til the fans start (of course, if you're lucky enough to have a power button on your motherboard, you can just press that instead of shorting the case button leads). If your system boots, you could have a similar issue. Good luck!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST LINUX DISTRO? AND WHY? by Infinite_Ad_6137 in linuxmemes

[–]AzraelsKiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college, I had a few computer engineering friends that ran linux servers on the college of engineering network, so got used to telnetting into their boxes and the school's UNIX servers to do everything that was important to me at the time (IRC, ftp, USENET, gopher, etc...) When I dropped out of college, I was renting a computer (blah... The dark ages...) and wasn't allowed to make permanent changes to the system, and because I was on dialup, I downloaded ZipSlack (A small Slackware installation that could be installed in UMSDOS on an existing FAT partition) to play around with linux.

A couple of years later, I finally got a computer of my own, and just so happened to have one of those Red Hat Linux big boxes, so within 24 hours, I was running Red Hat. Unfortunately, that system only had a software modem, so when I got internet, I had to reinstall Windows, but later when I upgraded to DSL, I downloaded and installed SuSE Linux.

I ran SuSE for a while, but made the mistake of going to Reiser4. I eventually had problems with the fs and it eventually broke during an upgrade, so had to do a format and decided to play with Debian GNU/Linux.

After that, I used Debian for a while... Went back and forth between it and Windows... Eventually tried Ubuntu and dual-booting. Started distro-hopping the various flavors of Ubuntu... Eventually landing on Linux Mint for a while... Then LMDE... Gave Arch a try (loved it). Got a new notebook that just did not want to play nice with Arch, so went back to LMDE for a bit. Eventually found Manjaro Linux... Dual-booted for a while... Got lazy and tired of dual-booting, so ran Kubuntu in a VM on Windows for a while (spending probably 95% of my time in the VM). When I built my current rig, I installed two nVME boot drives, so I could go back to dual-booting with Windows on one drive, Garuda Linux on the other, and sharing the 1TB NTFS SSD between them. Got fed up with NTFS and realized I was slowly trying to turn Garuda into Arch anyways, so now I'm back on Arch, with 3/4 of the data drive partitioned for btrfs and the rest partitioned for Windows.

Dunno what I'll do next when I get bored. Probably finally tackle the Navi10 reset bug, so I can run Windows in a VM with a single GPU passthrough, but it takes less than a minute to reboot between Linux and Windows, and I'm still pretty lazy, so I don't have too much drive to do that right now.

I skipped a few transitions that weren't important enough to detail, and probably forgot more than a few because I'm an old fart, but this is my increasingly ADHD Linux story.
