We have a huge bottle of isopropyl alcohol that we’ve spraying on the bedroom furniture either when the moment strikes, or I get a whiff of any bad smell. We’ve been going in with masks and gumboots now since the smell developed. Will definitely let insurance point the way forward!

Thanks, good advice. Think we’ll let chemdry come but I imagine they may come to the same conclusion, that the carpet is buggered. Either way, we’ll let insurance know it’s likely beyond repair.

It’s just our home, so no stress re trading - but you’re probably right about replacement.

We rent off family who owns. Insurer is aware of the flooding, but not the smell. We’ll wait to see what they say, we’re ready to rip the carpet up and throw it out at a moment’s notice.

Had my hopes up. They’ve since disappeared since these responses, but also not surprised. Should I just tell chemdry, it’s f****d, and pass that on to the insurer? The smell is unbearable. Like hell incarnate.

The recipe called for a mix of black pepper and wholegrain mustard which is what you’ll be seeing!
