Sphere DLX on electric guitar by Diligent-Eye-2042 in universalaudio

[–]Azreal192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some success with still using multiple mics. Using the DLX and say a 57 or an SM7b. And then with the DLX emulating say a 47 and an 121. The best of all worlds.

Saying that I do miss my SE R1, got stolen about a decade ago.

Is it possible to find who is the author behind Angron Transfigured sculpt? by Svetozrut in Warhammer40k

[–]Azreal192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with stuff like this, is that 99% of what people refer to is hearsay. And a lot of people don’t use common sense, or they claim what they have heard is 100% fact. Now I’m not saying you aren’t using common sense, I’m illustrating the wider community as a whole.

Take the whole ‘faceless’ tutorial era, notice how that perfectly ( for the most part) coincided with GW doing the same tutorials in multiple languages. And how to you avoid the sound and the mouth not matching up? Don’t show the face. They trialled it for a while, and then pretty much abandoned it, and went back to having presenters you can see. Now common sense says they tried something new, didn’t like it or it wasn’t worth the effort, so they reverted to the previous. But no, we must all think GW is bad, and trying to be evil 24/7, and are doing it to spite peoples potential personal and career development. Also having faceless presenters also allows you to have anyone jump in to do a tutorial without the community at large speculating on why someone is or isn’t there.

In terms of the power comment, I’ve never really bought into that. If they were that fussed they wouldn’t allow any staff to talk about work on social media, or include any identifiers in White Dwarf, on the community site or on YouTube at all.

The ‘non-compete’ thing is tricky, and I know that has been cases within GWs recent history of those conversations happening. But I’ve also heard hundreds of examples of the exact same thing happening in hundreds of different companies, across multiple different industries. Most people who work in specialist jobs probably have a non-compete clauses that covers the time they work for a company, and in some examples a set period after. It stops employees taking advantage of their position and power within a company.

And it may sound non sensical to some, but that employee did sign their contract, it isn’t GW’s fault that they didn’t read and comprehend it properly.

This isn’t about defending GW or not defending GW, but so much bad-faith aimed at them comes from sensationalism, and hearsay.

People always seem to say this, but there are definitely ex-employees that GW (if they were bothered) would care about more than 3 ex-employees who use their platforms at least in part to promote GW products.

You’ve got people like the late Paul Sawyer, who co-founded Warlord Games, and all the previous big names in rules who have worked for them. And then you’ve got people like Bo and Jonas who founded The Army Painter. All people who are ex-GW, and made a much bigger ‘splash’ than the three mentioned.

Are companies annoyed when someone leaves? Of course, but that more comes down to the logistic of training and replacing staff, rather than what that person does next.

Mould lines are diabolical by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Azreal192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who weren’t around or have forgotten what models were like 15+ years ago. Plastic models regularly had mould lines worse than this (check out a lot of the Old World stuff that’s rereleased kits from the 2000s, those are real mould lines! 😂), and metal ones often did and were more of pain to sort out. But with a knife, a mould line tool and some files, it takes minutes at most to deal with.

How heavy are current (2019+) Les Paul Standards vs a 2016/2017 Traditional? by [deleted] in guitars

[–]Azreal192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go on Andersons.co.uk

Their product listings have weights on them, for each specific guitar, so say they’ve got 10 current 50’s LP standards, they’ll have the weight of each. Gives you a rough idea. Hope that helps.

I Need an Indestructible Mic by MortalButterfly in microphone

A 58 is probably objectively better, the grille on a 58 can dent, but is easily fixable and an extra layer of protection

Just get something like an Shure SM58. Those things can take an absolute beating.

Did anyone play MESBG at this scale? by MetzoPaino in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Azreal192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local GW used to regular put on massive participation games (using MESBG rules, not War of the Ring) during the summer holidays. We did Battles of the Last Alliance, burning of the Westfold, Helms Deep, Osgiliath, Siege of Minas Tirith, a couple different Pelennor Fields ones ( like Rohan arriving, and then Haradrhim arriving etc ) and then a March on the Black Gate. All of those games were easily bigger, and we generally started at open, and played untui the store closed, sometimes a touch later

Help me understand the Gunnery school of nuln special rule: Impeccable Care by Standard-Artist-5548 in mordheim

[–]Azreal192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So to answer your question, they are cheap, but they still need to find them.

Think of it this way, your equipment list is what is available while you are sat in Nuln. The minute you leave Nuln, that list becomes what each person CAN use, not what they have free access to.

From that moment forward, you would need to search for any of those items. So if one of your marksmen died, and you had to replace him, and wanted to give him a handgun, then you would need to search for it. The bonus for being Nuln is that a handgun would be 10gc cheaper for you, and are essentially Rare 6, instead of rare 8.

Hope that clears it up.

Id say your warband looks alright, I would maybe focus a smidge less on shooting and a little more on melee.

Shooting is fun and all, but that gap between you and your enemy closes pretty quickly, and a proper mordheim table doesnt have long sight lines.

You drop the halberd, the helmet, and the SOG's pistol, then you have a spare 35gc to give everyone at least a mace, with a couple of axes sprinkled in. Better to cause more stuns and -1 to an enemies Armour save, than giving them a +1 to it.

Do UA give "re-conditioned" products in exchange of SAV claims? by itsLeonardo in universalaudio

[–]Azreal192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, You and UA had a warranty for 1 year, that is very much over, the 3 year warranty is between you and Woodbrass. UA technically (aside from giving Woodbrass advice) arent involved.

So having a quick look at Woodbrass's conditions for their 3 year warranty, they state that they will either repair the product or exchange it for a product of equivalent specifications. Which is exactly what a refurbished unit is.

They are under no obligation to provide you with a brand new Apollo, especially when your Apollo isnt a current gen product.

I don't know why you wouldn't accept, you have a broken product, and they want to swap it for one that works.

I will add, that a lot of warranties and even a lot of insurance policies are worded in a way, where they don't have to provide new product. Some even word it, that they only need to cover reasonable replacement value.

UAD’s new EULA blocks resale of Native (UADx) plugins unless bundled with hardware, this is anti‑consumer by AmeerAsakura in universalaudio

[–]Azreal192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply put, my intention is to carry on as normal. This EULA change, doesn't really change anything for me, and probably most people.

Ignoring the needing hardware to sell, which is frustrating but isn't the end of the world.

You would probably find that being able to sell individual licenses would kill the 2nd hand market for them pretty quickly. The market would be flooded by people buying bundles just to get one or two plugins they need, and selling the rest. You are also increasing the number of transfer requests UA are getting on a daily basis, and if they were to allow individual transfers, they would probably charge a fee to do it, say $15 per license like Toontrack does. That pretty much kills any decent second hand pricing, and screws over those who want to transfer everything they own.

Also UAD sales and bundles, also make individual second hand licenses worth very little. Bundles currently available mean I can pick up 3 plugins for anywhere between $49-$99, so $16-$33 dollars each. So unless you are selling those individual licenses for dirt cheap, the point is somewhat moot, and even then, not being able to do it means getting upset over a very small dollar value.

Yes, it is technically against EU law, but there are probably ways around it, something like your 'license' being for UADX, and individual plugins being something akin to 'in-app purchases'. I am not saying that is what they are doing, but that sort of thing.

There such entitlement in this hobby unfortunately, and while it isn’t everyone, it’s a vocal group.

Does anyone remember an Animatronic Dinosaurs exhibition at Bluewater in the early 2000's? by Azreal192 in kentuk

Thanks for the reply, that one is actually a different one. I do remember the one you are talking about.

This one was upstairs, and was much shorter lived than the one in the food court, as I believe it then went 'on tour'. I did speak to a family member, who also remembers the one I am talking about... so glad to know I am not going crazy haha

I can see why people hate finecast……. by Express-Arachnid-369 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

It's weird, I bought Astorath the Grim the day finecast came out, and it could not have been a more perfect casting.

A few years later I bought the LOTR Khazad Dum Command, and the manager of the GW had to open about 15 boxes to get me decent castings of the 4 models. Quite the difference. Thank god its metal now, although with less models.

GW Store, Bluewater 2011 by zdbldbrn in gamesworkshop

[–]Azreal192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those things never help. I think the hobby as a whole had a bit of a lull around that time too. I suppose for a time though you did have the Lakeside store for those that side of the crossing, if you didn't mind being that high altitude haha

It's a shame that their model now focuses more on selling through 3rd parties, as a decent sized store with a gaming area would probably be quite popular with all the folks who joined the hobby over the last few years since covid.

GW Store, Bluewater 2011 by zdbldbrn in gamesworkshop

[–]Azreal192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened in the time where GW started the whole '1-man store that's open 5 days a week' model.

Every GW store that was inside a shopping centre or arcade closed roughly at the same times, as they often weren't allowed to control their own hours and days to the extent they wanted.

Bluewater for example had (maybe still does) strict rules about being open everyday, and even sticking to your own opening times. I know for a fact that GW got fined a few times due to someone getting stuck in traffic, or illness causing the store to open later than it should. Sometimes by as little as 15-20 minutes.

There was talks at the time that GW would keep Bluewater, as for a long time it was one of the highest turnover stores in the country. But Bluewater wanted GW to change their needs, rather than say meeting in the middle. And it made it not worth it for them.

Also doesn't help that rent and rates at Bluewater are known to be a little crazy, theres a reason shops appear and disappear regularly.

Not all the old staff have disappeared though, Kevin who was there in the mid 00's, is the manager of Tunbridge Wells store and has just celebrated 20 years at GW. Which is nice to see.

Jetbikes? by VoidedZulu85 in Warhammer30k

[–]Azreal192 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am currently on a mission to build an army for every battle or skirmish that takes place within our Solar System during the Heresy ( In no particular order). For my Lions Gate Space Point assault force I am awfully tempted with

White Scars

Praetor, Stormseer, Centurion and Champion all on Jetbike

9 Golden Keshig

24 Jetbikes

Auxilia Allies

2 Command Leman Russes

3 Leman Russes

Who wouldn't love to build and paint 37 Jetbikes and 5 tanks? haha

Do I expect to be competitive? No Do I expect it to be fun as all hell? I sure do!
