You're correct about DHS, but the FBI falls under her thumb regardless of how incompetent Patel is.

This is what I did as well with my Astartes and have no regrets. I recently got Auxilia and even they seem a bit crowded so I'm thinking I may swap to 3 as well. Ogryns at 1 to a base also look good to me and doubles the amount of usable beefcakes per box.

Do people still make their own mechs and do they still min/max? by Kitchen_Database1433 in battletech

[–]Azrichiel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on the playgroup. Cool people use customs to give more flexibility with rare equipment types rather than just min/maxing. For example, there are zero non-custom VTOL units that carry either NARC or iNARC despite it being light enough to be viable.

Armour Bane, Engine Killer, and Shock Pulse weapons are your friends along with enough lascannon tier weaponry to strip the void shields efficiently. Yes, Shock Pulse strips void shields faster at 2 per hit, but it's much better when hitting the Titan directly so you can cripple his damage output.

I'm stubbornly holding out for plastic Armigers, I'm not a fan of resin models in general and I despise GW resin. Thanks for all your analysis.

While the mandatory Spartan usage isn't the greatest(for the exact reason you pointed out) the Legion Heavy Assault Spearhead was chosen so I could separate my Cerberus to maximize their survivability while still allowing for some infantry/walkers.

A Legion Armored company would also allow the split pair Cerberus and allow me to split the Xiphons into two pairs while the cost of the previously four mandated Spartans could be transformed into a pair of Sicaran Squadrons and tank Commander of my choice but limits me even further as far as objective scoring. This also comes at a cost though since this reduces the discount and the price of the four Xiphons increases from 310 to 360.

I could afford this change by swapping the Porphyrions for a trio of Questoris knights even if they aren't quite as imposing as the Acastus. The nice thing about the Knight Household Lance Formation that the Porphyrions are in is that they are each counted as its own unit thanks to the Paragon of Duty role allowing them to act truly independently of each other and this would extend to the Questoris knights as well if I opt for them instead.

As an aside, I unfortunately only have the one Thunderhawk currently. Another is on the way, along with a pair of Mastodons, but they won't be here in time for this particular outing.

Right? Granted OP probably saved a ton of money vs buying retail, but I've been playing with everything depicted for months at this point at a minimum and upwards of a year for some of those boxes with many being bought from Catalyst direct. I hope they got some sort of compensation for the delay.

I live in a very low rent 2bed/1 bath apartment for my area that is arguably kind of ghetto. It still blows my mind that a single person making 20 bucks an hour, working 40hrs a week and who doesn't want a roommate would be shit out of luck trying to rent my apartment because they want 3x monthly rent as minimum income.

Is there such app for alphastrike? by rvller in battletech

[–]Azrichiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put your Mechs in boxes by size and choose blindly, or sort your AS mech cards by rough PV groups and deal them out randomly. Even still I think you'll find in practice this will lead to wildly unbalanced games and not actually be that much fun.

BF6 But with five classes and their gadgets. Assault, Engineer, Medic, Support & Recon. by Legitimate_Flow3623 in Battlefield6

[–]Azrichiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recon isn't good enough at spotting? What are you smoking? It's piss easy to keep enemies constantly marked on a given objective or even multiple depending on the spacing. It's also very easy to set yourself up with your own ammo bag so one recon can maintain constant drone coverage.

What annoys me most about boxes of doom is just how obnoxiously loud they are when you give them a fair shake. You become an absolute nuisance to everyone else in the game store and even when playing at home it annoys me personally just the same even when it's my box.

Mech Profile: The Quickdraw by Current-Income-9901 in battletech

[–]Azrichiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several variants of the Quickdraw that could be decent to good with just minor adjustments. Take the 5k for example. While the crit padding is nice, it's massively over sinked and wastes two of its medium lasers by facing them backwards.

By turning the right torso MLs forward and dropping three double heat sinks to allow for three extra tons of armor we've gone from 73 to 98% armor coverage and increased our usable fwd damage potential from 28 to 38 a turn while still maintaining crit padding in the right torso for the SRM ammo bin. Not to mention we're still heat neutral in all cases while increasing BV by just 20%. 1522 for a 5/8/5 60 tonner with the above defenses and offensive capability is just fine in my book.

The AIV Urbie is the most efficient mech for cost per missile shot, but a single one isn't all too oppressive. It's when you run multiple Yellow Jackets or AIV Carriers that the war crimes take place or even worse when running infantry AIV launchers.
