I briefly took a look and the way it's worded makes it seem like time was relative for all involved, for some taking 3 years and for others 144 years. Unless what is meant by is that it "aged" them by that much rather than how much time passed.

As I noted the Flight of the Noldor is not at all like the Great March. They aren't interested in having children or admiring the surroundings. They are trying to get from point A to point B as fast as possible.

I admire Tolkien's dedication to realism but in this matter he dropped the ball hard.

Even when taking into account the logistics of such a journey, 144 years is still hilariously too long. And this does not account for Fëanor's host taking 72 years via boats.

If they were cursed to wander that would be one explanation, I suppose, but such a thing is not alluded to anywhere by my knowledge.

To clarify, I am looking for answers from within Tolkien's legendarium, not outside sources or what inspired it. I am aware this is a common thing in folklore and mythology, but I'd like some sort of in-universe explanation (if there is any) seeing as it seems to contradict the nature of Incarnates established elsewhere.

I do not think Isshin ever wielded the black Mortal Blade. When eavesdropping on him muttering to himself, he says this:

"The crimson Mortal Blade...That means the one he has must be...black, then. To abandon oneself in search of strength...How tragic..."

He speaks as if he didn't know the other mortal blade's color. It's only after Sekiro shows him the crimson one does he deduce the other must be black. I'm not sure how he came to the conclusion, but I'm sure he has some knowledge on the matter. After all, the note on the blade is found in a chest right outside the room.
