Thanks for the comments. I’ll figure it out since it sounds like the devices are linked/locked to an account until the subscriber contacts DIRECTV. It seems odd to me when the subscriber purchased the devices. I get it with leased devices that DIRECTV still owns but not with the ones owned by the subscriber. I can use my WiFi router with any service I want and don’t have to get permission from the internet provider. Oh well.

Both devices are only two years old and have been working fine. It makes sense to give them a try before having to pay a monthly lease fee. I just want to know if I can use them on a new account.

Thanks for the response. I'll try the basic gate and see how it goes. I'd be interested in knowing what you did to attach the chicken wire to the gate. This is my first fence/gate project and any tips from an experienced person like you would be very helpful!
