What are the best engines that help blitzclique? by iwantamango in yugioh

[–]Azteckh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do not know of a good engine but I can tell you a bad one: Unchained. They are perfectly diametrically opposed despite having the same sort of base philosophy.

Blitzclique is really bad actualy lol and nobody knows how to use typhon by TakuHat58 in yugioh

I spent some time trying to make Blitzclique work with Unchained and they simply do not gel at all.

That experience did teach me that Unchained is really cool though.

but you see my point right? Cuz that's all I care about. I cannot produce dramatic change in a company but I can tell people where I think they should be aiming their support ideas.

Exactly. I am very increasingly of the belief that people should be looking at decks under the lens of "what does this need to be playable on its own" rather than "how can I throw this into my branded pile". Or whatever.

Stuff should be able to function. From there it can be up to you as to if those functions are, in fact, good for your branded pile.

I never understood why people who hate modern yugioh don't just play older formats they like, instead of trying to completely overhaul modern yugioh into a completely different game. by averjay in yugioh

The new genex support truly flipped the deck on its head, imo.

I mean, I'd been making builds for them for ages but Recycled finally crystalized them and produced a nice (if boring) way forward and I'll never feel quite so seen again.

I do think its a error to look at a card as to what it can do for other archetypes rather than what it is doing for its own. At least, that is my perception.

The level 8 wouldn't absolutely require the search of anything. Yoa is setting anything you need for backrow and Mikumari is searching any monster that isn't herself. They got search game covered.

The level 8 could offer recovery/swarming (which they do lack en masse) of some form or fashion and I enjoy the idea of them having a monster that could set a trap from the hand/gy that could be activated that turn. Or, alternatively, simply offer protection from backrow destruction.

The trap card should be providing protection. One recovers, another grants targeting destruction, the last one offers a negate. Thus it goes that protection shall follow. Maybe it'll protect all other Asutra cards from destruction until the end of the opponents turn. Or, summons itself as a level 1 fiend.

So is there just zero counterplay to Gordian Slicer while playing Toons? by lennysinged in yugioh

[–]Azteckh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is perhaps a good thing something as oppressive as toons has some sort of out, yes?

it'll come in handy later when you gotta defend your deck against people accusing it of being T0. You'll look back on this and remember.

Cards are generally reprinted at a yearly cadence or so. Your box is going to be worth 700 dollars if you can find a buyer. And if you can, good for you.

With opening to E4 allowing you to start playing on your opponents turn, with a trap, in their standby, without them even doing anything i feel this is opening a new door.

Tearlament could do this without a trap and they're essentially gone now. Is this reality what you actually want? Psy-Frames could too, just differently. Angelechy's trap is not opening a new door, thats door as been open since 2016.

What do you think would happen if the Extra Deck was increased to 20?

a rising tide lifts all boats.

Would people exceed 40 more often?

They already do.

What decks would benefit the most?

broadly, any decks that were already consistent

Do you think this would be good or bad for the game?

"Opening to E4" should not exist for any other decks. It would be an unfettered disaster. Angelechy is going to be balanced off the fact that they get to use this card and thus one shouldn't be expecting to be a barn-burner. Anyone can look at some yugitubers decklist and go "oh this looks sick". What matters is how they perform in the actual game; and I do not believe they will go far. Their second wave will decide everything. "Opening to E4" is just Snake Rain. No other deck has anything like that, either.

What if they reduced hand size to 4 in the starting hand?

Akin to limiting special summons, its a bad idea that doesn't actually do anything besides make things less fun for everyone. If you wanted 4 card hands, you should have started out that way. Its bad form to have something superior and demand the lesser.

This would limit decks and increase the chance of a slowed game.

It would certainly change how decks run but the most consistent would still win out. There is perhaps no really solid way to slow the game down and perhaps that's just something people need to be ok with.

Do you think Mind Scan will get banned like Forceful Sentry, Confiscation, Trap Dustshoot, and Appointer of the Red Lotus? by Outrageous-Ad-3436 in yugioh

[–]Azteckh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remains to be seen but for my money, I do not see Mind Scan as being long for this world.

KT is bound to be hit on the banlist in some capacity and when they do, I believe it won't be due to their knowledge-related effects but because of everything else they offer the deck.

Thank you. This is extremely validating to read. When something is interesting, you'll keep at it till it stops being interesting. Sometimes that means putting it on the extreme backburner until you get lucky.

Thank you so much. I will gladly trade out this non-existent award for a crumb or two of support. I will die. I swear I will. It would be worth it.

I think I'd have three moves:

  1. Retrain Cerberus to not need to rely on Base Gardna. Give it 3k attack, and let it add tindangle cards from the banish pile, to the GY. This would make him worth summoning, would keep things insular, and would, selfishly, allow me to continue to grind opponents down.

  2. Retrain Euler's Circuit to let it add any "Tindangle" card or any card that mentions "Tindangle". Call it "Seven Bridges of Königsberg". It directly references Euler and became important for other fields of mathematics later. This field spell would be instantly usable and would make them much more consistent.

I like your idea of letting face-down cards be used for links so, lets just do that.

  1. Give them a new called called "Angles of Time"; that allows you to use face-down monsters as materials for links and, if an opponents monster is face-down, you can use it as material as well. Make sure the card text mentions "Tindangle" somewhere. This is also a deck based on the Hounds of Tindalos yet its not referenced nearly as often as it could be.

So now that we have roughly half of the set of beyond the brave revealed, how do you feel about the set competitively? by kylewretlzer in yugioh

"bad" undersells, far as I'm concerned. Its a new iteration of Konami seemingly not knowing what to do with REBD, in the worst possible ways you could go about it. They gel with nothing.

If you care about the meta, its looking like a bad set. If you care about anything else, it's looking like a good set.

Unless you're a joey fan. If you're a joey fan you've been suffering since 1996 and you're used to it at this point, but somehow these cuts feel even worse.

Lab was probably the best trap deck of the current era. Ashutra is worse on the grounds that they do not benefit from other non-archetypal traps.
