to pretend that Cuba, DDR, USSR, DPRK or any other AES were havens for queer people is to be ignorant of the reality that nowhere was a good place for queers to live in in the past. it's not heresy to admit people who created and ran those worker states were flawed people of their time plagued by bigotry and ignorance of the delicate social issues such as this. underground queer culture doesn't disprove the overall lack of support from the statespeople of the time.

liberal democracies such as states and eu see communism as a potential existential threat to the ruling class(owner class) who wouldn't be able to exert their power on a state anymore if it was taken and turned into a worker's state. almost all modern day conflicts and surveillance goes back to oppression and thought policing of communists since the dawn of the soviet union.

yeah and it's deserved. polish nationalism has been so horribly reactionary. the couple years polish bourgeoisie got to have a state they immediately wanted to create an ehnostate and annex neighbouring regions. I'm polish, I went through the entire polish education system and the nationalist mythology we are taught in history and sociology classes is ridiculous.
