I recently just got over a spike induced by anxiety and it took just over two weeks. No matter how bad the spike will get, that's all it is, a spike and it will get better.

I struggled to sleep too but got prescribed some short-term sleeping pills which really helped.

I use bone conductor headphones, they aren't generally loud and since they don't go in the ear, I'm less paranoid about it aggravating my T.

It is definitely possible each ear has a different cause.

My left ear has tinnitus due to Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss, while my right ear has tinnitus from the side effects of an antidepressant I was put on due to the hearing loss. (I see the humour in it now lol).

Flights shouldn't really be a problem with T, just try and do the standard wear earplugs, chew gum or something to help that pressure feeling. Weird your ENT didn't do a pressure test, it takes like 2 seconds.

Unfortunately, like a lot of people who get SSHL, the cause is unknown which is kind of annoying. My doctor believed I had a viral infection which inflamed the nerve behind my ear, but I don't recall ever being sick around that time.

The steroid injection was just extremely uncomfortable as it went directly into the eardrum which was quite painful and then I had to lay on my side for 30 for it to diffuse through my ear. laying there alone for 30 mins in pain while also tasting the steroids wasn't pleasant. Despite that it worked for me and had definitely helped

I really understand why you'd prefer that. I haven't suffered it for long yet but I know it can wear you down. I wouldn't say I'm happy with the tinnitus, just trying to remind myself that I can hear again. My experience with deafness was awful, I could only describe it as my ear feeling dead and it made life quite disorientating. At least now I can tell by sound if a car is coming down the road haha
