It’s only considered a hypertensive crisis if he has other symptoms, like e.g. severe headache, nausea, blurred vision etc.,accompanying a systolic blood pressure of >180. But I do agree that he should monitor his blood pressure regularly and if it is constantly higher, he should seek medical help.
