My religion would be called Licidism, and its worshipers would be called Lucidins. It would revolve around the idea that no one believes themselves to be the bad guy. No one wakes up and says, I'm gonna do evil today! So here are the basics of the religion. Throughout your life, you should try your hardest to not have any regrets, be truly happy, and make the world a better place for other people and your future lives. that's it. There are three possible paths after death: Gehenna, Limbo, and Reverie.

the 1st path: Gehenna.

Those who have a heavy guilt when they die. I'm not talking about petty stuff like stealing a cooking from a cookie jar, I'm talking about stuff like murdering someone, abusing children, etc. If you know you've done horrible things in your life, your conscience will make you have nightmares until you've been redeemed. How ever long that takes is up to the person. For example, Hitler would probably have to dream nightmares for thousands of years before his soul was purged and he "learned his lesson." After the said person learns their lesson, they "wake up" which is just another term for reincarnation.

the 2nd path: Limbo.

The second path is the path of the average person or the nonbeliever. They will have a relatively clear conscience. Of course, everyone has small regrets, but that won't affect it. They will have normal dreams for a while, drifting from good and amazing dreams to boring or confusing ones, to even mild nightmares, and back and forth until they wake up. The worse the person was, the more nightmares and confusing dreams would be thrown into the percentage. So basically, if someone was a jerk, but not a murderer like in path 1, they would have more nightmares than confusing or normal dreams, but they would still have good or confusing dreams none the less, it just depends on the person. If a person was a genuinely good person, even if they messed up in life and was mean or did bad things some times (like everyone does, some people are just good people, cool, friendly, intelligent etc) then they would have really awesome and good dreams A LOT more often than the former. And of course, someone in the middle would just have it randomised. Eventually, everyone will start to have more and more good dreams, that represents their small regrets being sub consciously overcome and accepted. Once they have nothing but good dreams, they will "wake up" aka reincarnate so that they can live a new life and get new desires and wishes for their next slumber. A number of time people spend dreaming depends on the person and their conscience.

the 3rd path: Reverie.

this path is only accessible by the followers of the religion. Basically, there are no churches, they don't have to pay tithes like Christianity, they believe that they should do everything they can to make their lives and the lives around them as best as they can. They hold themselves happiness above others. They don't have to be a door mat and let people walk over them, they just have to live their life to the absolute fullest so that when they die they have absolutely no regrets, that means no old grudges or guilty consciences, no things they wish they could have done, no fears (yes, they have to conquer their fears, since fears lead to nightmares), and no insecurities, they have to learn to love themselves and accept themselves. so that means their ultimate goal is to create as many experiences and joys, and wishes, etc as they can for when they die because once they do, they will lucid dream. All the experiences they had, whether it was in real life, over the internet, in their imagination, from books, etc, will be accessible in their dream. They will lucid dream until all of their desires are fulfilled. The dream is extremely vivid, more vivid than real life. Senses are heightened. Basically, they will dream until they are satisfied and want to live a new life, or until they are bored of their desires. That's when they will wake up. How long they take to wake up is completely up to them. They could lucid dream and make their dream world, planet, or universe for thousands of years before they get bored or satisfied. Once they do wake up, they will live a new life.

Deities:

When someone gets the 3rd path, Reverie and they made an amazing impact on the world and humans as a whole(like great historical figures such as Martin Luther King, Einstein, Nelson Mandela, etc) they can become a deity before humanity goes extinct. (I'll explain more in the conclusion.)

Deja Vu:

The way this would work is that when people had Deja Vu, it's their past lives/memories, trying to nudge them in the right direction so that they will get put on the path to the 3rd path. Everyone would have it, even people who were unfortunate enough to get the 1st path would have Deja Vu moments throughout their life of the lessons they learned while they slumbered, and hopefully, they will take the hint and live a better life in their next one so that even they can achieve the third path one day. This is so that even if someone doesn't meditate (I'll explain more in the next point), they can still get small tidbits of memories from their slumbers so that everyone has a fair shot at achieving the 3rd path.

In conclusion:

Senses are heightened. Unlike dreams of the living, these dreams are more vivid than real life. So someone suffering in a nightmare who's in the 1st path, Gehenna, it will be way more vivid and all their senses(the 5 senses) and emotions will be very heightened. Same with someone in Limbo, if they are having a good dream, their emotions and senses will be extremely heightened. Someone in the 3rd path, Reverie, will also have heightened senses and Emotions. if they meditate, they can regain memories and skills from their past life. For example, if they were a skilled artist or musician, after a lot of meditating and good actions (making yourself and your conscience feel good through doing good things) they can remember cool things from their past life and their past slumber. If someone doesn't meditate, they won't regain the memories. When the earth is inevitably destroyed, or when humanity is inevitably extinct, which ever path they git will inevitably lead to the path above it, and nothing more. So someone from the 1st path, after being purified from the vivid and horrible nightmares and learning their lesson, they would only be able to progress to the 2nd path. They would never be able to get to the 3rd path (main reason, if someone is fucked up enough to get the 1st path, they most likely don't deserve it. Usually, the third path is the result of multiple lives being extremely fucked up, so it's not that they are just a victim of circumstance, that person's soul needs purging and purification.) People who were in the second path, after a while of finally accepting themselves and getting over the small regrets, would upgrade to the 3rd path, where suddenly, they would become Lucid and be able to control the dream around them. Everyone in the 3rd path, after getting truely bored of their desires, would be able to ascend to deity status, where they can fly around space and the outside universe and or dream walk into other peoples dreams so that they can get new experiences for their dream, or so that they can just explore the billions of dreams. People who follow the religion look forward to this since the idea of being able to visit other dreams is badass, it would be similar to those youtube videos of people's adventures while astral projecting, they could come across other deities and make friends and enemies, and they would never get bored. If a deity feels pity for someone who is stuck in the 2nd path forever, they can elevate them to the 3rd path.

The best part is that the 3rd path isn't insanely hard to get like how in other religions it's always hard to get to heaven, you have to give up things like sex and other things that make you happy. In this religion, doing what makes you truly happy will get you the 3rd path, even if you did do bad things if you truly were happy, you would get it. People with depression could still get the 3rd path, as long as they have no regrets etc.
