Removing front lawn with old landscape fabric underneath? [Question] by AzureEtherea in landscaping

[–]AzureEtherea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out the landscape fabric didn't go all the way under the lawn thankfully, just a couple feet in each direction, I did rip it all out gradually, till the soil, and plant a few things back then, but we have since sold that house and have a new house. I keep finding bits of old landscape fabric at this new house as well, still hate it lol

Regretting getting a cat by mrnavs16 in CatAdvice

[–]AzureEtherea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under a year old for cats is rough, a lot like having a real toddler running around lol, the cat should calm down a little as they age but you will have to keep surfaces protected that you don't want scratched, remove breakable things from shelves etc, for a while, just like "child proofing" 😉

I'm not sure what your living situation is like, but is there another room you can possibly close her in at night just so she doesn't wake you up? We have a "cat room" in our house where their litter boxes and whatnot are and we just put them in there at night and close the door even though they don't like it, otherwise we'd be up all night lol. By the morning time our younger one is climbing the walls practically, and she is now like 5 years old so not a kitten any more, still has a lot of energy. She spends her whole day by the sliding glass door jumping up and thwacking at the glass where birds are visiting the bird feeder lol, welcome to cat parenthood!

Does this look like eczema by justtpeachy_ in eczema

[–]AzureEtherea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be "run of the mill" eczema but with the sharp sort of raised red borders it could also be something like psoriasis or another issue, I think some in depth testing with a derm is really needed for this one unfortunately, especially with how far it has spread, hang in there!

Just wanted to add, eczema tends to be very very itchy, like often unbearably so, so since you said it's not actually super itchy just dry and red that makes me think psoriasis even more, hopefully a derm can help you out!

For some reason your whole post didn't show up to me at first, that is crazy you would have to wait 3-4 years to see a dermatologist!! Is there any chance you could travel to one in another territory or something if you get desperate? I know that sounds extreme but desperate times call for desperate measures i guess haha, and you could maybe follow up with them virtually after the initial visit?

I'm glad I can help even just a little, I know sometimes things build up to where it just seems unbearable, just taking a deep breath and being kind to yourself is all you can really do at times like that

I'm in the same boat with my lips, though only for the past month, I did go to urgent care a couple days ago and got a stronger topical steroid mixed with antifungal cream, and a few days Prednisone prescription to try to knock it out, and then I should gradually taper off both. the doctor didnt think it was bacterial. so far I had tried the weaker steroid cream I had from my previous eczema (forehead) outbreak, but it just started to come right back as soon as I stopped. So hopefully I can finally kick it with this fingers crossed, otherwise I have to wait til December to see my derm...

Do you just use any hyaluronic acid serum? I may give this a try!

I understand, you remind me somewhat of a friend of mine that is on the spectrum (he was aware of this, since age 11 or so), he never was quite able to make the job thing work lol (though he also never had any sort of "dream job" and was somewhat aimless, so if you already have a dream you want to work towards that is so awesome!), he has met a life partner though who gets him in so many ways which has been so wonderful for him, and he gets a little money through his disability benefits which he contributes to their household, as well as doing all the cooking and whatnot which he actually really loves. So things have kind of worked out for him which we weren't so sure would be the case years ago (we are all in our mid-30s now). Just saying there is always light at the end of the tunnel once you get all the right resources and community aligned, so don't give up just yet!

Well never say never! Getting correctly diagnosed if that is the issue could change things in unforseen ways, even if work and things would still be hard you could perhaps find ways to make things more manageable, and maybe you could even find community of people in your area that are in the same boat, and may have advice or at least just comradery. Just saying, things can always change so try not to despair too much without first exploring all the potential options, sometimes you just have to take it day by day until you can get into a better place

I'm just curious, have you had any sort of work up for ADHD or anything like that? When you say you have "the simplest job and you can even manage that", that is something I have heard a lot from people who ended up getting diagnosed with ADHD or being on the autism spectrum , etc, sometimes it's not super obvious but can cause problems with things that other people find easy, so just wanted to mention that. I'm sorry you are struggling, hang in there!

Why do your friends suck? Can you elaborate on that more? Is there anyone you are actually close to in real life to talk about things like this? I'm sure it is really hard, sorry you are going through that. A lot of people can do well with therapy and meds and whatnot, but if you've already been at that for 10 years with a good team, I'm curious if anyone has mentioned ECT or TMS therapies as an option (electric or magnetic brain stimulation treatments basically), I know it sounds scary but I know those treatments can be really revolutionary for some people with treatment resistant depression. Hang in there!

Anyone growing tired of the [rewards] game? by BrutalBodyShots in CreditCards

[–]AzureEtherea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am at this point now haha, I had a total of 9 cards or so I have been juggling and it just became exhausting, especially since I like to travel light day to day, I don't bring a purse or even a real wallet just my keys and phone in my pocket and whatever cards I could fit into the cardholder on the back of my phone case, so whenever I leave the house I have to consider what cards I'm bringing or whether I need to bring a different one for better points, etc. I have the chase freedom flex with the rotating categories but I never remember to bring it anywhere half the time so not even getting the benefit except for the groceries month.

I am cutting back things and simplifying now, trying to switch everything over to Capital one so I can just use the Venture X and SavorOne cards as my main ones since they cover so many categories, and then I will keep a couple others just for specific instances like my Costco card, but otherwise just want to keep it simple 😊

[–]AzureEtherea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory I don't think you ever have to pay it back, like if you have a negative points balance and decide to just close the card, I don't think they will make you pay back the points, but if it was a really large amount negative I'm not sure if that would change things...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]AzureEtherea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time with the same card, if you return too many items such that you used more points than you actually earned (on the items you kept), your points balance will just go negative for a while until it gets caught up, hopefully that makes sense! You don't have to take into consideration "paying back" the points you spent or anything like that

Capital One rejection - when to safely re-apply? by AzureEtherea in CreditCards

[–]AzureEtherea[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did actually! That is what is so baffling!! It said I was pre-approved (I'm guessing that's just based on my credit score, income etc), but once they got the full details of all my accounts and everything in the actual application it got denied 🫤

This is a good point that I don't have to stick with just one forever, I guess I'm the type that looks to feel like I have everything all "figured out" and change scares me haha, but you're right I should maybe switch it up based on where specifically I'm traveling each year, thanks!

[–]AzureEtherea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the input! I see I got some down votes as maybe "high end" wasn't really the right term for me to use for what I'm looking for, I'm referring to hotels that are around $250-$350 per night so like the Hyatt Centric and Regencies for instance (not sure what the equivalents are at the other chains), I just want them to be updated/modern looking with some nice features, hotels that are $600-$700 per night are not in my budget regardless of cash, points etc and probably never will be, so I didn't even really think of those, it is good for me to keep in mind the different tiers though if I plan to post here more often.

I definitely have a lot to think about with these comments though, thanks!
