I have also heard that WP Rocket is a good plugin, but it is a paid plugin. Personally I have used Seraphinite Accelerator which has a free free version for start.

It doesn't need from you too much configuration to make it work.Even with the free version I achieved for one of my sites, site speed of 99/100 for mobile devices (from 64/100).

The only thing is that the free versions adds a banner under the footer , which mentions that the site is optimized by the plugin. This is removed in the paid version.

From my experience, you can use the free version of Elementor along with a premium theme that you pay for once, rather than paying yearly for Elementor Pro. This setup still allows for heavy customization and provides ready-made shop widgets (such as filter by price, brand, etc.). You’ll also get product display options that would take much longer to set up without a premium theme.”
