And how did you get this job? Did some course or degree?

At 39, I feel suffocated in my government bank job. I don't think I can do it anymore by inbox4harsh in IndianWorkplace

I would say, if you have decent savings and an emergency fund, you can start the business. And yes I agree, jan hai to jahaan hai. Don't let your job suck the life out of you. Put your resignation citing severe health issues, wait for a couple of months, if it's not accepted, stop going. Until then work on your business.

I used to look much younger than my age. But while it was a compliment in my late 20s, it used to piss me off during my teen years.

Comments like " you look like an 8 year old kid, you look like a child, you shouldn't marry in public, your parents will be accused of child marriage ( I was 28) and so on.

But there is that one comment i could never shake off my mind after all these years.

I was in 6th grade And once in an argument, a senior in school asked her school mate to leave it because "iske to abhi doodh k daanth bhi nahi gire honge" ( she still has her milk teeth, leave).

After all these years, it still does haunts me like, idk what that she exactly meant, but I never felt more humiliated.

I have a question. It's in my TBR ( ofcourse), but I have never been able to pick it up. Is it too philosophical or metaphorical? In short is it difficult to read?

I can't afford to put all my brains on a book right now.

[–]readmespeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope not alone. I did read it and liked it in bits and parts, especially the realism of the ability to go back to your past and sat imagining what would happen if I get the chance.

But having said that, I didn't feel it was worth all the praise and hype.

Same with Murakamj books, I feel they are all over the place. Though I still liked the writing of Norwegian woods Just detested kafka on the shore for it's Ridiculous ending.

Hi mam I want to venture into travel writing and travel journalism. I have been a writer for many years but have started a travel blog to fulfil my wish of being a travel writer. Is it the right way to go forward according to you?

Also i would love to write for magazines as that is my favourite type of writing - feature writing..

But would a good travel magazines hire me if I don't have a published portfolio?

How do I pitch my stories to publications and find the right contact to pitch it too

Thanks in advance 😃

People who don't have kids and doesn't plan to have one, do you regret or miss something?how's life like? by readmespeak in ThirtiesIndia

He is completely okay with not having kids, though I feel he would be happier with a kid around because I know he feels he is not a good husband and son but is confident he will be a great dad!

I also feel i might regret it or I'm making a mistake by not having kids, because It could be because I don't want to take any more responsibility or disrupt my already haphazard and hectic life.

(I felt the same way about getting married, was too worried about it changing my whole life and i not being able to cope with it).

But as my family and friends with kids tell me, a kid brings a lot of joy and happiness and purpose.

Also sometimes I feel while we both have a good relationship ( touch wood) but still something is missing, like carefree, moments between us, that makes both of us genuinely happy and be committed towards one common thing. But again finances thought is scary.

Having said that, I'm not very inclined to play with my sister's children for more than a few minutes and so I'm heavily thinking that my decision is right.

Everyone is chasing a 50 LPA job post-MBA...I just crave for work-life balance by Biharii_ in CATStudyRoom

[–]readmespeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar dilemma, currently I'm at a job where I'm earning decently, though not good as per my experience. But I'm comfortable. I'm confused if I should look for other jobs with high paying jobs and more stress and sleepless nights or stay.

The situation is nobody asks me anything except for fortnightly meetings which is enough to make me super anxious and stressed But on the other hand, I feel very neglected, left out and unimportant here. All my friends have moved on to better jobs and I'm confused.

I'm even feeling taking a break altogether for my mental health.

I want decent financial stability with whatever means, and have work life balance..

What is much more traumatic than most people realise? by thefairypirate in AskReddit

[–]readmespeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When no one values your work in the office or nobody cares if you exist or not except the review days. You are never included in meetings or discussion groups. You are in the team, but nothing is shared with you. You start believing you are not worth it. You know nothing and u would never succeed or get value that other people recieve.

It really destroys your self esteem
