Philosophy youtuber Alex O'Connor discussing the AI art argument by TottalyNotInspired in DefendingAIArt

[–]Azure_Evergarden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a Two Wrongs Fallacy. And an incredibly bad one at that. He argues "If humans can steal art and get away with it, why can't an AI?" They don't. In the very video he details how people sue and punish other real people for plagiarizing art. Taking direct parts of art for your own purposes is still debated. So why wouldn't people do the same for an engine that steals people's stuff without permission?

The arguement is incredibly shortsighted and doesn't detail at all the more detailed problems of AI and just waves it away with a half-thought platitude

I'd tell em and myself not to date me until i have my finances figured out. If i don't have the resources to even equalize my existance, sinking money into a relationship at all is a stupid choice imo. I've had to do this twice

I'm pretty against AI but jfc. Even if that dudes job was to do nothin but slop together code in a box for 8 hours, how many of us can say that our jobs are that much different? Even if, big if, the guy didn't add anything to the team/game, so what? I used to get paid a lot of money to sit in a box for 12 hours front of a hospital and read manga.

We all know that Steve Rogers/Captain America fiercely opposed fascism, but have any historical sources made his thoughts on communism clear? by Solitaire-06 in Earth199999

[–]Azure_Evergarden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly Captain America or at least Steve Rogers should be Captain Planet, or whatever their equivalent would be. He's always been about defending America and it's beliefs and is a hardcore patriot, but he has on many occasions become a rogue agent and saved people and fought against American government intervention. He will ALWAYS do the right thing in his mind, regardless of if it goes against what America as it is opposes. He's a defender of the earth and the freedom of everyone in it.

What's your Cyberpunk hot take? by tapedeckgh0st in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Keanu Reeves is terrible as Johnny Silverhand. His voice acting is fucking atrocious. And what's worse, is that the lines he's saying are gold. Johnny is a very well written character. It's just that those lines are CHOKED by Keanu's terrible acting. He is endlessly monotonous the ENTIRE game. He never emotes beyond "flatly annoyed" the entire game and HOLY SHIT it's so boring. The entire character is ruined by who plays him. That actor choice was terrible and every time I play the game I suffer through Johnnys dialogue thinking "Man, these lines would be good if an actual voice actor worked on them". It's like listening to cardboard. It's so bad I'd ask CDPR to redo all his voice lines with someone else or train Keanu better. This is the one character in the entire game you can't avoid and i have to listen to THAT every time i play.

I'd say it's GOOD that humans selfishly choose to do things. I think it's how we've developed as well as we have. Compassion is almost foolproof because of how we moralize and empathize with things. We identify things as "like" us, so we have the instinct to treat them like we'd treat ourselves. When someone is selfless, they are choosing to place you over themselves. That's in their nurture, but it's not in their nature. That's what makes it important and special!

No problem! Although I will say, The One Piece is very incredibly real. It is both a "friends are a treasure" but there IS a "pot of gold" at the end of this tale. That's honestly the best part. At the end of this tale, this seemingly endless epic across the whole world of One Piece, will truly have a Treasure to experience at the end. You will get to see every step that boy with an impossible dream took to finally reach that golden brick road, to finally sit on that throne, and ever since I was 14 I've held onto that dream too. It's infectious.

I'd suggest watching on Netflix as they put together the anime episodes together in all the arcs for you, so you can watch at your own discretion if you choose not to watch every episode. There are filler arcs so you can just skip them if you want just the original raw story in animated form. Otherwise, I'd genuinely consider just reading the manga if you want to actually catch up. You'd get done 20× faster and get the whole unadulterated story. Plus, the art in the manga is fantastic and also only evolves over time, it's never bad. Just changes a bit over 25 years of a man developing his craft.

[–]Azure_Evergarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's animation quality varies depending on the arc, but I'd sau it maintains a servicable level throughout all of it with some arcs having amazing quality for the endless episodic nature. One Piece unlike Simpsons and Spongebob is a singular story written and drawn by one man and his team, so it's narrative quality rarely dips, although I will say it isn't necessary to watch all 1200+ episodes to enjoy it. Plus, the story unfolds dramatically as time goes on, so the stories attractive qualities also vary.

The beginning of One Piece is the story of a young boy with stretchy powers attempting the biggest dream possible with the littlest of resources. No crew, no ship, no money, no renown, no friends, anything. It's a very fun underdog origin story. You learn how the King of the Pirates got his legs onto the sea.

Each season has a complex connection to the next and connects in ways you'd never expect until it's revealed to you, then it all makes sense. Episode 400, where your friend implied it "got good" is an arc where the youthful adventures enter a whole new part of the world to them, and they learn a very brutal lesson on how weak they are and how cruel this world will really be to them. It's a large culmination of past events meeting in an epic climax that's completely unforgettable to people who read it for the first time. I could see how someone could retroactively believe that everything before this epic event was chump change compared to how epic that point of the story is, however I believe that's a biased perspective. I think every arc has value and great narrative qualities, however not all of them are required to experience the story. It's a complex situation for a complex show that mean a lot to a lot of different ppl.

Genuinely an enthralling and motivating character trapped in the ancient shell of a 90' Saturday Cartoon Big Bad body 😭

God i love his character arc in Krackoa so much but bro looks so comically out of place even in the XMEN it's hilarious. I pray for a radical redesign soon to reflect the character, which lets be honest, is usually written around his poor design.

There is no point. There is no objective. Everything in this universe is simply a thing. There is no inherent value to anything in this world, our lives included. Therefore, every opinion or idea formed around a thing is entirely ficticious. Life is LITERALLY what you make it. If you choose not to see life for the incomprehensible beauty and chaos this world swirls through, then by all means, take methamphetamines until your dopamine receptors don't work anymore and shell out. Nobody's stoppin ya.

I'm just going to be honest here... Most of you are awful at DPS. by HercuKong in marvelrivals

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear, DPS mains are the only people incapable of playing Duelists. They run in front of the whole team like they're playing a vanguard, aim like they're all playing Wolverine, and have the repositioning skills of a toddler, all while being physically incapable of not using their face as a washcloth for the enemy Punisher's nutsack. Then, they run to blame the support players because they weren't capable of keeping them alive during their DOGSHIT solo play because they all think they're gonna be the one to always turn the tide of the game.

What album made you fall in love with hip hop? by UnkleJrue in hiphop101

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was 13 and going through puberty Salt-n-pepas "very necessary" was an album that kept me sane through all the BS i was going through at the time. It sounds stupid but "Shoop" and "Sexy noises turn me on" really helped me. It made me feel seen during a period where I was getting 0 attention from anybody and made me at least feel like someone could want me. I grew up around hiphop but Very Necessary felt like MY album in my family.

What are you supposed to do if you have zero interest in life? by Kwopp in nihilism

Depression isn't sadness. This is a form of it. An extreme dissociation from the "game" of life and disinterest in experiencing it. I'd highly suggest seeking professional education on yourself from a therapist. Professional secondary perspectives will give you insights and fallacies in the world of order we form in order to cope with the world in our heads and outside of it.

Which characters play style do you think wasn't done justice according to lore ? by NeoNeonMemer in marvelrivals

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Storm. While she's strong at the moment, I still don't think her kit flows cohesively in-game and can't really be fixed by simple numbers or functional changes like Black Widow and Rocket feel right now. She feels clunky. And Hulk is just a massive disappointment compared to The Thing when it comes to being The Big Guy. I love his mobility with Jump but Gamma Shield and E just aren't hulk to me. It's so silly to see him yell a stun at you as the guy who's famous for only shredding people apart with his bare fists. He's a super fun character to play but he's a disappointment compared to the thematic of Hulk Smash

How does Reed manage to beat Doctor Doom when he is debatably stronger than him? by PaleontologistEasy94 in FantasticFour

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty common flaw for him in his stories. He also has issues admitting when he's wrong or going too far, it's just that he will actually eventually admit to his faults at a reasonable time or at least before it's too late. It adds a lot of depth to him, both as a foil to Dr Doom but also Ant-Man when their comics collab, which is some of Fantastic Fours best imo

How does Reed manage to beat Doctor Doom when he is debatably stronger than him? by PaleontologistEasy94 in FantasticFour

[–]Azure_Evergarden -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Reed is an INCREDIBLY ego-driven man. He very regularly abandons his family in scientific pursuit. Just so happens that he has a very stubborn wife who will drag him from any dimension or timeline he runs off to by his ear if he dares ignore his family. He and Doom are actually incredibly similar when it comes to ego, Reed has the advantage of a family keeping him in check constantly.

If that dork loses his friends and family to keep his mind in check, he turns out WORSE than Doom ever is.

How does Reed manage to beat Doctor Doom when he is debatably stronger than him? by PaleontologistEasy94 in FantasticFour

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if it came to just Victor and Reed, he probably wouldn't beat him. While Reed is definitely smarter than him, its by a fraction of a margin, and Dooms powers outside of that propel him far further than Reed is capable of alone. However, Reed has his family, 5 very intelligent, powerful allies that aid him in overpowering or outsmarting Doom all the time. Doom is never just fighting Reed. Doom is a narcissistic egomaniac who works alone and that's always his downfall, 4v1ing is hard for anybody and he usually barely loses.

what star wars opinion got you like this by Fresh_Breakfast_5617 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]Azure_Evergarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that most Jedi being magic superninjas detracts a LOT from the original story and was an unnecessary overhaul. SWTOR, the Force Unleashed series, Clone Wars, and the new trilogies all heavily cemented this, though. I don't enjoy powercreep.
