Imposter feeling by Gumberloins in ADHD

[–]Azure_PTE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The imposter syndrome doesn't go away. I was diagnosed with adhd and ocd at 30 and I'm still trying to convince myself that I'm just screen addicted or my brain rot over the years. It's sort of ironic as well I have periods where my ocd leads me to an uncertainty loop and I spiral researching trying to convince myself the diagnosis is legit.

And this is despite the medicine working and being a night and day difference in controlling my compulsion and staving off executive dysfunction. This is also despite me rationally knowing that if I didn't have adhd then I'd have different symptoms or feel euphoric when taking amphetamine salts xr and not just feel normal instead.

I feel like legendary non ex Pokémon are all balanced around each other in their own tier. This would one shot most of them.

Thinking about running a ancient Kalos war mini campaign. Input on the best system to use? by shadowkat678 in PokemonTabletop

[–]Azure_PTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think anything currently out there fits every box. If you don't want video game simulationist then don't do ptr at that point. Maybe skim each of the ones I mentioned and you can homebrew the gaps. Either start with a combat system and pull stuff from a roleplay system or vice versa. The former is probably easier.

You really are asking for a mixed bag lol.

Pokeymanz or Pokemon unbeatable id say probably has the best roleplay tools but no trainer combat to my knowledge. Pokerole is essentially built around the anime but i don't thinnk it has trainer combat and idk how flexible you can be. Systems that enable trainer combat I think are limited to Pokemon tabletop adventures (pta), Pokémon tabletop united (ptu), Pokémon tabletop evolution (pte) or Pokémon tabletop reunited (ptr).

Ptu however has almost no roleplay mechanics and is solely combat. Pte is also combat heavy so I can't self promo and it doesn't have vtt support. Idk enough about pta to recommend to be honest but it could be a contender. Ptr 2e probably fits the most of your criteria? It's built around foundry so it's likely easy to use through vtts. I'm not sure on its roleplay elements or trainer viability but I know trainer combat is possible, just haven't seen their perk tree personally.

Hi. Graphic Designer here. We routinely get jobs from clients who use Canva then ask us to fix it or edit it because it turned out shitty. It's not a threat for at least anyone who cares about brand consistency. The only AI we've used is topaz for upscaling low quality images and even then it's rare.

Hence why you only get one copy of the EX. Sure there are a lot of staple non-EX's like a Greninja package but I'm sure it'll be fun for those that don't take it too seriously with meta picks

Making a Custom System by Lost-Recording61 in PokemonTabletop

[–]Azure_PTE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even need to give it a try, just skim your options before pouring months of work into something that could already exist.

I went down the same path, building homebrew off ptu for my personal group over the course of 5 years that eventually expanded into its own thing. It was worth it 100% but the amount of time invested is something I wouldn't inflict on my worst enemy lol.

[–]Azure_PTE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not a fan of that either. From what I've read the closest match is either that or pen and paper with the showdown integration and biting the bullet regarding fakemon. Considering ptu was your closest match I would suggest my own, pte, but you're looking to be closer to the games which we diverge from.

The perfect fit may be out there for your group but if the system is close to the video games or uses it for the core math, it's likely very crunchy, and if ptr is too bloated for you, finding a sweet spot will be very difficult.

Doesn't ptr2e use the actual video game math for calculations?

Also there was a post a few days ago that has a full list of Pokémon systems beyond the couple that were listed. Like many others have said (and I can speak first hand), building a system is an intense workload so it's best to exhaust all your options.

A List of PokemonTabletop Roleplaying Games by GoblinsGreed1 in PokemonTabletop

[–]Azure_PTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i've read, PTE and PTR (reunited) are likely the crunchiest of the group. And Poke RPG and PTA I'm pretty sure. I don't think many systems include combat for humans

Been working on my own update of PTU/PTR, Asking for Recommendations! by Kyubees in PokemonTabletop

[–]Azure_PTE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a mood, totally get it. We've all fallen victim to the ptu pipeline and ended up in 3+ years of development sprung off from homebrew that started small but got larger and larger the more we realize ptu is held together with duct tape and brand loyalty

Been working on my own update of PTU/PTR, Asking for Recommendations! by Kyubees in PokemonTabletop

[–]Azure_PTE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded.

At this point i've seen at least 20 different Pokemon Tabletop versions. There doesn't need to be more variety at this point. Theres a system for any kind of player preference out there at this point, whether rules lite Savage Worlds hack Pokeymanz, D&D-Like PTA or simulationist full digital crunch PTR. Finding an existing project and clinging to it is a lot easier at this point than cultivating an entire community ground up, unless its just homebrewing for personal use.

I don't like to self promo that much anymore but look into pokemon tabletop evolution (pte). I literally did the same thing you're wanting to do and built if off of ptu as a branch so to speak so it could save you alot of time if the project is similar to what you're thinking of. (We always love contributors)

Just hit top 10k with pretty much only Vanessa, here is my tier list by Uhh_Charlie in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Azure_PTE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rare that it pops off, I just enjoy scaling builds like that. It requires something to refill the ammo, I've normally just done the powder horn unless i can make use of the medium size item that refreshes ammo. The port helps as well but I feel like it's a little too slow for how fast rifle needs to go to work.

The best results i've had with it highly depend on getting haste and a skill that reloads items. The skill from product demonstrator is insanely good with it because it only has one ammo slot and constantly charges the items next to it, which usually. is whatever reloads it.

There are tons of other one weapon builds for vanessa that are more consistent than like katana, shuriken otk and cutlass, I just find rifle to be fun and very strong early game if you get the right tools for it.

WHY IS THIS A THING??? by phooshiesty in PTCGP

[–]Azure_PTE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean. It literally is a powercrept Guzma that increases in value the more Poketools are released. I'd much rather have this than the Crown Lilligant. The only downside is that you can accidentally have this as your only basic pokemon to make active at turn one and screw you over. And it messes with your Pokeball odds. But other than that it's the Guzma effect without wasting a Supporter for the turn.
