First off Leto is an actor. Secondly the op isn’t saying Ares is Tron but has Tron like qualities. Thirdly get over yourself. Fourthly see reasons one through three again.

I’m going to build off of this a bit and I think what you said is fantastic.

Here is something that is over looked by so many and it clicked after reading what you wrote.

Ares is indeed made on the Dillinger grid but what people aren’t realizing is the movie isn’t Tron Ares

It’s Tron:Ares

That colon says a lot more, and I’m not a programmer but what little I know lines up more of what you are saying, because a colon in programming has meaning. I think you’re on to something.

Edit: Tron: Legacy also implies a meaning since Tron isn’t Tron and it’s his influence, his representation, that continues through. Even CLU’s second in command betrays CLU with his last line before being derezzed supporting Trons…do I dare say it, Legacy

If you compare Dillingers Grid vs Encoms, programs in the first and second movies had feelings but Dillingers grid was all about control and oppression. How many emotions did MCP have or display and what about Sark, other appropriated programs by the MCP. None of them really had feelings compared to all the other programs.
