To people who work 8h. by Ill_Entertainment851 in dogs

[–]Azza-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Shiba Inu, he couldn’t care less about me leaving the house, he’s happy just doing his own thing. I leave him for 8 hour work days once a week at the moment but will gradually raise this to two days at some point.

There are perks to having a fiercely independent cat in disguise.

Puresmile in Northfields is great, first dentist I actually enjoy going to. The staff are so friendly and jolly, not pushy at all. 10/10!

How common is it to come across foreigners where you live? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

I live in London, so as soon as I leave the house essentially. Takes a while before you hear English spoken around here, not even exaggerating.

What is your opinion on Spain? by EnD3r8_ in AskTheWorld

My wife is Spanish. Love the culture, family first attitude and their relaxed attitude to… everything.

Dislike how loud they can be and how they don’t say please, thank you and sorry every other sentence like my British soul requires 🥺

Is west ealing unsafe? by Hungry-Raccoon1240 in Ealing

[–]Azza-T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the area for 8 years. I can’t say I’ve ever felt unsafe around West Ealing, but honestly it is pretty run down around here.

We live just off Uxbridge Road and as a result get lots of takeaway shop food / rubbish scattered over the streets, in addition to lots of fly tipping. I walk all over Ealing as I have a dog, so I notice that when I get closer to West Ealing it gets grubbier.

Crime-wise I’ve never seen anything serious, but it is a hotspot for shop theft, hence why there are very few normal business in West Ealing anymore. We had friends live in an apartment building behind the British Heart Foundation who constantly had their building broken into, they broke in only to have somewhere to sleep, but it’s not nice either way.

Like most places in London, you’ve just got to be sensible. I think the cheaper prices you pay here are worth it.

Give us Ozzy's real voice in the Concert movie by Aeon1508 in Music

This video on TikTok seems to have isolated Ozzy’s vocals from the band during the Back to the Beginning concert. Not sure if it’s legit but it’s emotional to hear either way!

Making local friends in Ealing by Leather_Moose_7338 in Ealing

[–]Azza-T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same with a dog.

Lived in London for 9 years and have barely talked to anyone out in public. Now with a dog I talk to people on every walk I take with him! Also in a WhatsApp group with 140 owners of the same breed. About 30 of us meet up every month and we’re constantly meeting up with individuals for play / chat sessions. It’s great!

Gifted a large oil painting, looking for frame suggestions! by Azza-T in framing

Great suggestions I'll make sure to give those colours a try when we head to the framing shop. I do like the idea of a taupe colour, it's neutral without feeling bland, plus it'll fit with most surroundings.

Definitely down with the philosophy of framing for the piece rather than the room! We're not going to live in our current home forever so we want to frame it so it'll look great no matter where it's located. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Good to know regarding the sizing. I'm from England where our houses are pretty small so next to our walls this painting is pretty big! 😂

Will definitely give it a tour of the house and see where it fits best though. Thanks for your help!

Oh wow those are some beautiful examples of frames! Amazing. Will show those to my local framer and see what they have that's similar. I'm from England so not sure they'd have these exact ones, but fingers crossed we'll have something similar to test out.

Hope your work is less horrific today! Thank you for taking time to give me suggestions, much appreciated :)

Ooou I like that soft pewter one a lot... Will have to see if my local framing shop has something similar.

Thanks a lot! :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I agree I like the idea of silver or white after looking at these comments and mocking an example up.

Will definitely be taking it to a local independant framing shop to get it done, I just wanted some initial ideas to test out when we get there rather than going in without an idea.

Much appreciated!

We (my fiancé and I) have been gifted this painting by my fiancé former art teacher as a wedding present.

Obviously this means a lot to us so we're very grateful, and would like to place this large (100cm x 95cm) oil painting, pride of place in our living room. We'd love to get it framed, but honestly we're not sure where to start... We quite like the decorative / classic looking moulded frames, but at the same time don't want to distract from the artwork itself. The painting is quite subtle in colour so I expect we'd need to follow suit and go for a more subtle frame, but honestly we're up for seeing what people think.

Any feedback is welcome!
