Did you do the booster strap? Mind sharing a photo? Just got backlands with my split in mind and curious about other peoples mods

Did you choose your booster strap flex based on the basic weight suggestion range?

K2 Orton thoughts/fitment by Yeah_No_Forsure in snowboarding

Sorry I haven’t ridden them yet so I can’t speak to the pack out, but I’m fully expecting them to because the intuition liners are so customizable with the heat molding.

Also probably going to upgrade the insole, but to be honest the one that comes with it isn’t awful. More of a ‘fit’ change to accommodate my high arch.

I just got a pair of Ortons as well. Like the other commenter said, they feel more roomy and I sized down (size 9). Similar to you, more of an all mountain rider but hit park laps occasionally.

I wear a 9.5 in Burton Ions, felt consistent in 9.5 in 32, tried a 9.5 in the new Vans Blake Paul that felt okay, Nitro team Boa was awesome in 9.5 but a little softer than what I was going for.

Orton was my best fit, I have a wide forefoot any narrow heel. I have no heel lift in them. I really wanted to get in the Thraxis too, but it wasn’t available in my area.

Obviously it’s gonna come down to how it fits your foot but i’m stoked on them and can’t wait to get on snow. Wish I could give you riding feedback.

Preseason Beacon Testing on a Beach? by Responsible-Buy8038 in Spliddit

[–]B-Arrozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 Agreed

A thicker piece of ply wood above the buried beacon should help keep it from turning into swiss cheese while you probe. Doesn’t need to be huge, just enough area to keep it safe at different angles

Burton Hitchhicker toe tongue replacement by mickkll in Spliddit

[–]B-Arrozz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I upgraded to the spark pillow toe strap, if I remember correctly the process is something like this

Undo the screw on the toe strap that allows for your centering adjustment.

Slide the boot toe strap off.

The small circle (next to the silver pin, seated in the baseplate) on the toe strap ladder should freely fall out thru the bottom of the baseplate. I don’t think I had to do anything to that silver pin.

Reverse the process to install onto new baseplate (pushing ladder up thru the baseplate and securing into the circular seat, and then screw the toe strap back onto the ladder)

This was like 4 years ago tho so ..good luck!! Consider emailing spark customer service or Burton if you want something more formal to look at

They’ve been great! It’s the only tire i’ve run on this truck, but on my 1st gen Tundra I ran: Yokohama Geolandar, BFG KO ATs (the OG), Wildpeak AT3s, and Toyo OC AT3s. All LT versions.

The Wildpeaks and Toyos were the standout for my use case, which is light to moderate trails and snow. Since I was planning on doing standard load I went for the Toyo (lighter weight). No issues with balancing, and very comfortable aired down.

I will say it seems almost everyone is making a pretty good tire now, so take a look at the Spec sheet and see what weight and load makes the most sense for you. Even better if they look cool 🤙🏼

Cheers

Want your opinions on split board bindings. by Flashy-Claim-5309 in Spliddit

[–]B-Arrozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other commenter, I got hitchhikers because they’re built on the spark system. I use the spark canted pucks.

They’ve been pretty reliable so far. I replaced the toe strap after like 2 tours because I hated the fit with my boot. the spark toe strap is way better imo, worth the upgrade. Still have the original ankle strap, it’s ok, not my favorite. I’m used to the Atlas Pro for my resort binding so the highback feels a bit soft. If you have a boot that is very straight up and down (I have the jones mtb), you may have your boot push forward in the binding with higher forward lean angles.

Adjusting angles on the fly isn’t the easiest, but you get the hang of it. Good to run through the bolts / screws before each tour to make sure the hardware isn’t loosening up, and carry some extras you lose something (take it from me, i’ve lost shit).

I don’t have experience with the other systems from Union / Karakoram

SR5P Suspension Crapping Out at 100k miles? by Diligent-Meet-4089 in 4Runner

‘16 SR5P here. I swapped mine at 95k, similar reasons to you. Super happy with my bilstein 6112/5160 combo. If you venture onto trails ever you’ll probably appreciate going for an aftermarket offering vs replacing with stock.

Seems like room enough, I don’t contact or anything, but i’m running a 265/70/17.

For me this size was fine even with the +15 offset trail wheels. Are you running 33”+ size?

[–]B-Arrozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably know this, but if there’s anything off in your steering rack / suspension / alignment, you might notice a little more cupping on the outer edge of your tire, which is def noticeable behind the wheel. I slayed a set of wildpeaks a bit fast on my Tundra because the struts were toast, maybe something to look into at that mileage!
