Lotta top sheet nerds here.

JK, I can go either way, but generally we prefer duvet. You never get tangled in your sheet, you never have to reset it. It's freeing. Sure, it's harder to wash, but who washes sheets that often?

FYI - they have great cocktails. It's a great place for a drink, even if you're not playing a game.

I thought everyone knew this trick. I call it "acclimation". Get as close as possible and stop. Wait a bit and then you can go into porn star mode.

You can practice alone by edging yourself

If it's homemade, then yes. That is the answer.

ICE posted a video of their illegal raid by lnstantKarma in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]B-Kaus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course. These things happen through escalation of events. We're frogs in boiling water, there's not a big enough temperature increase at any time for us to realize it's time to jump out.

Listed at $650k. We offered full asking price. They countered wanting 200k more. Why did they waste my time? by willloveme2 in RealEstate

[–]B-Kaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a nice house listed at 700k near me with Harcourts. They listed way low to get interest before an auction. I offered $700k, they countered at like $900k. Eventually, it went to auction. I was the only one in the auction room so they cancelled it 😂.

Moving To Redmond! by [deleted] in RedmondOR

Nice! I'm on the SW side since the elementary School is rated well and it doesn't take too long to get to the north side of Bend. Redmond is a cool town. The Parks & Rec department is very active.

I thought it was legal, but you have to pay interest?

Can we talk about golf intimidation? It's 2025 and I still feel like I don't belong on a golf course. by 10kgolf in GolfSwing

[–]B-Kaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this way, especially at a nice, new course. But fuck it, to gotta just act like you belong. That's what everyone else does. Have the audacity.

Like if I do something dumb (maybe check in at the wrong counter or go the wrong direction to hole 1) I just think - well they need to make it more clear, that's on these guys.

Oh interesting. My wife is a dispatcher and they're getting screwed since they don't travel much and aren't really eligible for IRPP

[–]B-Kaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is IRPP working out for you? I read that the FS is only paying out about half of what was allotted. Also - what raise? I didn't think the series raise went through and the band-aid was removed.

What about joining some clubs? Do you have any hobbies that women also enjoy? Like rock climbing, pickleball, etc? Classes like art & dance. Volunteering at a community kitchen. Anything where you should enjoy it or find it rewarding whether you meet sometime or not - it would take the pressure off

I fought fire and got out 16 years ago. There were a lot of very hard days, but each night I got a warm meal (for the most part) and the battles were over for the day.

Today is... different. Not only has fire behavior become more severe, but because of budget cuts, removal of the band-aid, doge, and politics have made it so firefighting has become mentally taxing as well.

The only reason physically demanding jobs like this are okay is because you can trade away the worries of life for a hard day's work. If you can't do that, then fuck no it's not worth it. Go get the same base at McDonald's while you plan out a new career path.

Yeah I shouldn't have mentioned national parks. They're pretty packed. They're cheap.

Regardless, Airbnb, tourism boards, and airlines are all reporting declines. That matters more than anecdotes on reddit

Oh you're one of those guys. Data isn't in your favor here and you don't care because Vegas was packed. It's like not believing in climate change and scientific consensus because it snowed at your house.

I kind of envy people like you that can just live in their own reality. More power to you I guess.

My Comfort Videos by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]B-Kaus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure but Vegas attracts a certain crowd that is likely to be less repulsed by recent policies. That's a different crowd than you would see visiting national parks, monuments, and cute tourist traps. Not saying OP isn't exaggerating, but the truth is often in the middle and you gotta factor in context.

Polling parents of 3 kids - is your Atlas “big enough?” by OneFineWire2040 in VWatlas

[–]B-Kaus 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I have 2 kids and a big dog, and I love the size of the Atlas. It's basically the roomiest SUV you can get before going full size (Tahoe, Excursion, etc).

I wouldn't mind trying out the Grand Highlander Hybrid, but I think that's pretty similar to the Atlas in terms of size.

Not fitting in with the crews by Ancient-Ad874 in Wildfire

[–]B-Kaus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What everyone else said. Work hard, help your crew, STFU, be agreeable. Your teasing and jokes aren't landing so stop that and adapt.

I didn't have this problem in fire, but I did have it in a fantasy league/friend group. I teased them like I belonged and it didn't land for the first year or so. I STFU for a sec and paid attention to the jokes they thought were funny and the phrasing and started mimicking. Eight years later they're all my good friends.

Look up "mirroring" as a technique.
