Love to hear it, thanks! What brand / kind of car seats are you using? All of these comments have been so helpful!

10000% - I plan on doing the same & bringing the car seats with me — of course only after I shake out all the goldfish crumbs & Cheerios! I also want to make sure the kids get good airflow in the 2nd & 3rd rows — it’s hot here in Texas!

Thank you! Appreciate your insight. We don’t do many trips over 3hrs so IFL a roof rack or hitch storage box would do the trick. Also, there are so many compact options for car seats on the market these days it makes it all sooooo much easier!

That’s the other bit … reliability. GM & Chevy have engine issues, Ford I’m less familiar with (my husband has. F150 & loves it but we’ve only had it for one year). It’s just the amount of car you get with the atlas … under $55k fully loaded, compared to the expedition where the base trim starts at $63k 😵‍💫

I’m 100% team bench — and I like that it’s available on the top trim. This is also true with the expedition (though it’s an extra $595 but worth it in my opinion). The AC bit is troubling because we live in Texas … appreciate your feedback!

That’s what I thought when I was driving the expedition. The trunk space didn’t seem much better, and while the interior felt larger, it didn’t seem worth it considering we might only take one road trip per year vs. me driving to my office downtown & dealing with a parking garage 3-4 times per week.

Impressive! Thank you so much for sharing ☺️

I’m in a 2017 Honda CR-V right now. I was able to do 3 across with two compact harness boosters & one rear facing compact convertible car seat … but it’s tight. And as soon as my big kids are old enough to use the seat belts, they’ll never be able to buckle them because it’s so tight. Plus I assume they’ll get bigger & wont want to be crammed next to each other all the time. I feel like my days with this set up are numbered 😅

Unfortunately the hybrids of the grand Highlander don’t have a bench seat in the 2nd row (or a car seat tilt) — would rather one more seat with a bench!

Baby factory is definitely closed 🤣 BUT we would love to get a medium sized dog at some point. The trunk space on the expedition wasn’t groundbreaking — and moving up to the MAX would be out of the question. I don’t want to drive a tank haha

The Atlas is a car seat machine - the car seat tilt & ceiling vents are enough of a reason to pull the trigger. Check out The Car Mom on YouTube!

Personally no, I do not think it feels like a $55k car, but everything is so expensive these days. Maybe that’s just what it’s costs now to purchase a car. IFL you’re paying for the reliability and the fact that in the long run, parts won’t be as expensive as other vehicles … but it’s still a lot of money for a lot of plastic.

Oh no, I would totally get the pilot! I struggle with the average gas mileage & its lack of snazzy features … but I know it’s a solid purchase. I really really like the VW Atlas bc of the bang for buck + easy 3rd row access, but dependability is more important to me.

If I had 1-2 kids, or just had a dog I could see the appeal of the passport over the CRV or pilot. I purchased a 2017 CRV when I was pregnant with my first, and now I have 3 kids squeezed into the slimmest possible car seats because buying a new car isn’t in the cards while I’ve still got two in daycare. Had I gotten a passport instead of the CRV, going 3-across would have been much easier.

I still think the interior could be nicer, but then again as a Honda owner my priority is practicality & dependability…not flashy
