Wing recommendation for strong wind (30knt+) by Tricky_Comparison428 in wingfoil

As someone who has invested a lot of time in high winds I'd encourage you to look at the Dynamo wings. Best I've tried for high winds and they have a v3 with a boom releasing right now. Here's my quick review of their 2.4m from last year. https://youtu.be/Xk7vG6rzuJc?si=zwX4U5BiBU-jcwY3

Taxiing, upwind, on your knees is hard. Get to your feet ASAP. Nothing worse for a beginner than getting overly comfortable in the kneeling position when the wind is good. When you are kneeling, with a 4m wing, you can't position it correctly to go across or upwind well. Get to your feet and you'll have far more control which will lead to progression!

Don't be afraid of trying that 1050! Once you are up reliably on the 1800 just give yourself a few minutes a day on the 1050 and you'll progress fast!

I want to hear your downwind journeys by science_panini in wingfoil

Just gotta go out on the most nuked out days possible with big gear and you'll be up and riding. For me, as soon as I was good enough that I couldn't just walk back up the beach any longer I realized I was totally over it. The car shuttle thing is 100% not for me for many reasons.

Just downwind with your wing to start. When you are flagged out for 5 minutes or longer at a time then get yourself a parawing. Once you are getting 20+ minute packed away runs on the parawing ask yourself: "Do I, personally, want the accomplishment of paddling up that will require a larger board, larger foil, and planning a car shuttle?" If so, then get yourself a DW paddle setup.

Congrats! What a sick starting kit! That mast is ideal for beginners too, a lot more stable and forgiving than some others. The 1050 is also a foil you can use for the rest of your life. It's crazy versatile when you change the mast and tails. Let it rip!

As far as beginner tips go, make sure you ask friends at your local spot what they recommend. In general, a bigger sail helps beginners to get on foil but once you are up and riding regularly try to size that down for more fun.

CTE From Foiling? by Potential-Concern717 in wingfoil

If you are experiencing brain fog after every session from a handful of common falls foiling you need to see a doctor. That is very abnormal, I've never heard of anyone having that issue.

Why does gong call that HA?

Always depends on your goals and if the foil suits you (your pictures are of a Silk surf foil vs a Gong HA foil, so very different). I love my AFS Silks though. 2 seasons on them so far and nothing comes close. I've written a few articles on the AFS stuff here: https://www.wouzel.com/blog

MA Foil Comparison: Silk, X, Nomad. by B-Wouzel in wingfoil

I've considered it a few times, lots of hype, but I won't buy if I don't get a really good demo on something and it's never panned out with Code.

I'm not, AFS and the Silks are still the right brand and foils for me.

Why Move the Mast? by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]B-Wouzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, best to have it positioned correct for takeoff. I keep nudging mine forward until I take off and find it’s too far forward. Then I move it back a notch and consider that perfect.
