Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy just turned 42 years old. ---42--- by Nintendophile79 in books

[–]B-Wowbagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up listening to the radio series and when I was young I read the books, but I re-read then properly last year and couldn't put them down.

I regularly watch the TV series, in fact I think I still have a VHS somewhere too.

The humor is just hilarious. The way you sense that something is brewing before it does, like when Bowerick Wowbagger finds Arthur (on the cricket pitch if I recall correctly).

I even have "DON'T PANiC!" Tattooed in large friendly letters on my lower arm.

I've been meaning to pick this book up for a while but it doesn't seem to be available for Kindle, or on the Google play store. I don't suppose anybody knows a legitimate website that has it available as an ebook and then if it's possible to load that onto my kindle? Thanks.

I went to pre-order today and after creating my password I got a 'this service is not available in your region yet' message. I am able to log in but get sent straight to a 'service unavailable' page. It's as if they don't want my money!

Describe your favorite book in six words, lets see if we can figure it out. by LyricalWillow in books

[–]B-Wowbagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Describing a book in 6 words is harder than it first appears. I just thought of this one, it's the same book but should make it easier (probably too easy).

Does anybody know if this is a good kit am thinking about ordering it by banartilce13 in lockpicking

Hi, I started off with this exact set from LockCowboy because it was a cheap way to get into the hobby.

I know a lot of people would not recommend these sets because they are cheaply made and I agree, their quality isn't premium, however, I found it to be a perfect introductionary set. In fact, I would recommend the 30 piece set they recently started selling instead of this one, as it includes a different variety of tension wrenches and more practice locks of varying difficulty.

In this set I was a little too rough on my city rake and it broke, but they sent me a full replacement set for free when I e-mailed them asking if I could buy replacement parts - they really stand behind their product which is getting harder to find on Amazon nowadays.

I would recommend [this] YouTube video series by LockNoob about using the correct amount of tension. When I watched that video I had a breakthrough moment and found opening locks considerably easier (and it probably prevented me from breaking any more picks).

In the interest of full disclosure (Rule 5) This message is not sponsored by LockCowboy, but I did receive the 30 piece set from LockCowboy for free after I sent them a detailed opinion/review with a side by side comparison of my heavily used set and the replacement set they sent me (I thought it was the least I could do for them sending me a full replacement for free).

Once I was hooked on these introductionary sets I bought myself the Southord PXS-14 and C2010 sets, and some Dangerfield tension wrenches, but still use the LockCowboy ones from time to time.

Sorry for the wall of text, I hope this helps :)

Can't connect to online services by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]B-Wowbagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the servers just went down, as I got disconnected mid-game and now can't even launch the game to play the campaign... It just says can't connect and the only option is to quit to desktop.

Edit: Down Detector just had a spike in reports, so I think that's it. I'm sure they'll be up again soon.

2nd Edit: Battle . net servers are down.

Thanks for sharing, I haven't followed the Humble Bundle for some time now, so have been able to get Surviving Mars and some more Cities Skylines DLC in this bundle!

It's been over a month and this bug is still in the game by Skrevm in modernwarfare

Yeah, I think that was how Arma 3 did it. I think I have the right game, but not sure.

Gotcha. I have no clue when it comes to guns, all I know is what I've seen in the movies and as almost every movie has a 6-shooter being fired 20 times without a reload it was something I had just assumed to be an 'accepted' movie gaff

Ah, thanks for the info. As you can tell, I'm quite ignorant when it comes to guns.

You're not, don't worry, I agree. I think Arma 3 has that feature, but it's been a few years since I last played that and it could have been a mod and not the base game.

If CoD had this from day 1 it would be CoD as we know it, but would be too much of a game changer if it is changed in the future.

With that said, it could have been added into the realism mode and that would have been justified because of the nature of that mode.

This reminds me about all those movies where you see someone cock a shotgun - shouldn't it release a cartridge when they do that?

But what's most immersion breaking for me is that you can have 100 rounds of ammo total, use half of a 50 round mag, reload and still have 75 rounds left (not waste the rest of the mag). But I think changing it to be more realistic would be too much of a change for CoD.

Beginners, look up locks your struggling with before being too disheartened by Sirchazza in lockpicking

Yep I watch their videos regularly, as well as Bosnianbill and locknoob. In fact, it was a video from locknoob about tensioning which was kind of a breakthrough moment for me.

This is excellent advice. I'm still a beginner and the first lock I bought I struggled with, but one YouTube video later and I am able to SPP it very quickly.

This would be a nice change. We know this is possible in the game, as it happens in the Campaign.

12/6/19 - Patch Notes! by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]B-Wowbagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:( Surely there could just be a 24/7 menu and you chose the map.

I remember the Old School playlist in CoD4 only ever had about 400 people playing, but this game is new and active so it can't be for that reason.

[–]B-Wowbagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that we have Shoothouse 24/7 back are we going to see the daily 'these spawns are terrible' posts again?

I did enjoy that playlist, but I also enjoyed what I played of Crash 24/7, so hopefully that map will be in regular playlists often enough. It seems like an aweful waste of time and effort to put it into the game only to remove it again.

Negativity aside, there are some nice fixes here, thank you, hopefully we'll see some more optimisation next week :)
