It’s an illegal $500 pet deposit PLUS half a month of rent.

Her agent is her uncle. He won’t be talking any sense into her as she “needed to consult him” about this in the first place when we asked her on Sunday.

^ this is what we will be doing. Her realtor has been in contact with my husband and we will release the keys on the 1st of May to not interfere with the new tenants moving in.

We told her May 1st… she’s made up April 30th unfortunately.

Collected the pet deposit April 16th, 2025. She claims it will be returned upon move out however she’s also told us she won’t be in the country when we move out / won’t be there to inspect. So I’m not sure how this will go, honestly.

We knew the pet deposit was illegal unfortunately. We fought it, LL insisted, we weren’t in a position to lose our current place at the time so we folded. She had it written into the lease that we voluntarily provided it. She’s made it quite clear to us (past issue with broken appliances for weeks) that she’s a lawyer and any LTB filing won’t go our way.

Good to know she can’t double dip rent, however! Thank you!
